A recent update shared by the Skyblivion team provided some insight into the key development milestones achieved in February 2025, including an update on the cities, a new development diary, and plans for post-launch DLC.

During the last major update from the Skyblivion team, the developers stated that the cities within the project are almost entirely complete. Bravil, the poverty-stricken city in southern Cyrodiil, has since been finished - leaving only the Imperial City for finalization before the game is ready to launch. The update also reports that new music has been added to complement the Oblivion and Skyblivion tracks in-game, and that a new development diary is currently in progress.
As the release enters its later stages, the team has also begun concepting for DLC, which is expected to be a remake of Oblivion's main expansion, Shivering Isles. Previous footage has showcased remade models for the Gatekeeper - a massive, grotesque flesh golem from the DLC that guards the Gates of Madness in the Shivering Isles. The model in question took 34 hours to make, and given that it was teased back in 2018, it only highlights how much effort the team has put into making this project a reality.
While rumors have simmered for now, Bethesda is speculated to release its own official remake of Oblivion, powered by Unreal Engine 5, sometime in the next month as a surprise announcement. While the timing may not be ideal for the fan project, the team has previously commented on the rumored release, remaining relatively unfazed given that it's a passion-driven, non-profit endeavor.
"I think whether the rumors are true or not doesn't affect us much," said Rebelzize.
Skyblivion is still on track for a 2025 release, and if the updates are any indication, we might be seeing it sooner rather than later.
