Activision now runs Halo. Microsoft is shaking up Xbox and changing things around, and has given Activision the responsibility of making the next Halo game. Speaking to Windows Central, Activision gave a statement that affirmed a team is being assembled for the next Halo game--which The Hollywood Reporter says will be a full, AAA mainline game.

In today's announcement, Xbox studios head Matt Booty confirms that some people at Halo Studios will stay on to serve the community and the games that are already released--titles like Halo Campaign Evolved and possibly even the Master Chief Collection and Halo Infinite.
"Activision will also be developing the next Halo title, led by a new, purpose-built team that is separate from ongoing development and plans for Call of Duty. A small team at Halo Studios will continue supporting the Halo community and games in-market."
