Anthony Garreffa | Jan 5, 2020 7:03 AM CST

CES 2020 - Segway is making waves at CES 2020 this year, teasing off its new prototype electric vehicle that it is calling the S-Pod -- and it looks like a wild ride.

Segway teamed with Ninebot on the new prototype TV that weighs 330 pounds and has a top speed of 24.8 miles per hour, while in its current prototype state it has up to 43.5 miles of travel in it from its battery. Segway's new S-Pod is a personal transport vehicle that the company describes as a "first-class smart transporting pod".

The S-Pod is powered by gyroscopic, self-balancing technology that makes sure you'll never fall out of it -- and while the original Segway could be controlled by leaning forward or to the side, the new S-Pod has its movement manipulated with a tiny joystick in the right side of the seat for maximum laziness. Segway says it'll also have a detachable built-in pad, too.

Aston Martin solves car blind spots with 3 rearview mirror video feeds

Jak Connor | Jan 3, 2020 4:44 AM CST

Over the last ten years of car manufacturing, designers have no doubt increased the number of cameras added to vehicles. But what about three cameras added to a rearview mirror?

Aston Martin solves car blind spots with 3 rearview mirror video feeds

Aston Martin is doing that very thing and will be showcasing a new rearview mirror design that allows the driver to see three live video feeds simultaneously. Aston Martin developed the new unit with assistance from Gentex Corporation and have called the design the Full Display Mirror, or FDM for short.

So how does this work? Two cameras are positioned on the car's exterior mirrors, and the final third mirror is located on top of the car's roof. It should also be noted that if the driver is experiencing bad weather or the cameras happen to trip up and malfunction, the driver can adjust the rearview display to whatever fits their needs. At the moment, Aston Martin hasn't said when they would be rolling out this new rearview mirror design, but we might hear some updates at CES, so make sure to tune in for that.

If you have been out of the Tesla news loop, then you should know that the company recently revealed its new Cybertruck.

Russians replicate Tesla's Cybertruck, it's gas powered & has no doors

Tesla is selling their electric Cybertruck for $39,990 and $76,900, but if that sounds too expensive for you, then you could always pick-up these Russian YouTuber's knock-off version. Russian YouTube channel "Pushka Garazh" or "Gun Garage" in English created a replica of the Cybertruck but with some considerable;e differences that make up for the price difference.

The Russians took an old Russian car owned by one of the fellow YouTubers and spent about $1,300 on doing up the exterior to look very, very similar to the Cybertruck. What isn't the same as the Cybertruck is that the Russian version is not electric, and it doesn't have any doors. The only way to get into the replica is via a single large hatch in the rear of the car. The YouTubers have reportedly put the Cybertruck recreation up for sale for $10,700, or 666,666 rubles.

Marty, the self-driving DeLorean engineered to dominate test courses

Jak Connor | Dec 24, 2019 1:48 AM CST

Imagine if Marty McFly never actually had to drive the DeLorean in Back to the Future, imagine if the DeLorean just drove itself at 88mph.

Marty, the self-driving DeLorean engineered to dominate test courses

Standford Unversity engineers perhaps thought of the same thing and decided to make a 1981 DMC DeLorean be independent of its human driver. In the above video released onto the Stanford YouTube Channel, engineers took the new and improved DeLorean to "Martykhana", an autocross speed test track that includes many obstacles.

The DeLorean had no driver but did have two passengers. One behind the wheel enjoying the ride and another person in the passenger seat holding onto the laptop that set the DeLorean on the programmed route. The car drifted, twisted, and fish-tailed it around corners with what seems to be like extreme ease. I wonder if Marty McFly and Doc would be impressed? Maybe not, as it's not going fast enough to travel Back to the Future.

Tesla Cybertruck might be illegal to sell in Europe, redesign needed

Anthony Garreffa | Dec 16, 2019 7:25 PM CST

Tesla's exciting new Cybertruck has been riding quite the huge viral marketing wave, all without a single cent being spent by Telsa Motors and its CEO and mastermind Elon Musk. But... the new Cybertruck might be ahead of its time, especially for the European market. Musk was recently seen driving the streets of LA in a prototype Tesla Cybertruck.

Tesla Cybertruck might be illegal to sell in Europe, redesign needed

According to a new report from a TUV expert, Tesla might not be capable of selling its Cybertruck in Europe -- at least without some major tweaks to its design and components. Tesla would need to integrate side mirror cameras (if they're not optioned onto the Cybertruck), smaller tires, headlight clusters, and the advanced windshield wipers.

Even with these redesign changes and tweaks, Tesla might not be able to sell its Cybertruck in Europe as it would fail safety tests in its current form. Stefan Tellar, an expert at SGS-TUV Saar GmbH of the Automobilwoche says Tesla would need to make big changes to its basic features before it would be considered to pass in European markets.
