Corsair has just added another company to its portfolio, with the gaming giant acquiring game controller company Scuf Gaming. The acquisition of Scuf Gaming will take place over the next month.

Andy Paul, founder and CEO of Corsair said: "We are thrilled to greatly expand our portfolio of industry-leading peripherals and enter the gaming controller space to help gamers play at their best. Scuf leads the market for performance controllers and are a key ingredient to the success of countless esports professionals".

Scuf will remain a separate brand to Corsair post-acquisition, continuing to run things from their Atlanta-based HQ. Elgato was acquired by Corsair in 2018 and did the same thing, letting Elgato go about their business in their own way.

Duncan Ironmonger, founder and CEO of Scuf Gaming said: "Over the last ten years, we've worked tirelessly to create the features that have made Scuf the preferred controller for the majority of top professional gamers. Controllers are the single most important connection between an individual and their game, becoming an extension of the player to maximize their performance".

Scuf Gaming also holds 103 of its own patents, and 55 more patents pending -- this is on top of the controller family of products it has. I'm sure that Corsair will push them in a new direction with Scuf working on controllers for the next-gen PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles.
