MSI Z790 PROJECT ZERO PLUS motherboard adopts CAMM2 memory for extreme overclocking

Kosta Andreadis | Motherboards | Jun 4, 2024 5:28 AM CDT

At Computex 2024, we saw one of MSI's latest Z790 PROJECT ZERO PLUS motherboards, designed for extreme overclocking with Intel CPUs. It adopts CAMM2, an alternative to SO-DIMM for laptops, and sits flat on the motherboard. MSI co-developed this memory solution with Intel. Its placeholder name is Mini_CUDIMM, and the Z790 PROJECT ZERO PLUS board supports 12th Gen and higher Intel Core processors.

MSI Z790 PROJECT ZERO PLUS motherboard adopts CAMM2 memory for extreme overclocking

Like the magnetically attached heatsinks for storage on the new Z790 PROJECT ZERO PLUS, this has one that comes standard with the motherboard. CAMM stands for Compression Attached Memory Module. It was initially designed to replace SO-DIMM in laptops, incorporating a dual-channel configuration into a single solution. It's being used primarily for high-speed memory for PC gaming, starting at DDR5-8400 speeds.

MSI believes overclockers will be able to push speeds higher than what we've seen with standard DDR5 modules, which is exciting. Each module supports up to 128GB, so you've got enough capacity, too. "These optimizations allow for extreme overclocking, delivering unmatched performance for enthusiasts seeking the ultimate," MSI writes in the press release.

MSI showcases new flagship all-in-one PC that may come with a RTX 5090

Jak Connor | Computer Systems | Jun 4, 2024 4:44 AM CDT

MSI has unveiled its new flagship gaming PC at Computex 2024 and just like everything else at this year's trade show it includes artificial intelligence (AI).

MSI showcases new flagship all-in-one PC that may come with a RTX 5090

If you have seen any news coming out of Computex 2024 you would have noticed AI has made its way into almost every product, and all-in-one (AIO) gaming PC's are no exception. MSI provided me with a tour of their booth this year where they showed off their new flagship gaming PC called the MEG Vision X AI. This new gaming PC is an extension of the company's Vision line and includes a new eye-catching case that uses some wraparound glass to make all of the internal components visible.

However, that isn't the most eye-catching thing about the MEG Vision X AI, as you have already probably noticed the large touchscreen. According to MSI representatives at the booth this new touchscreen can be synced to MSI's "exclusive AI apps for enhanced AI functionality".

MSI officially showcases new gaming monitor that could change gaming forever

Jak Connor | Displays & Projectors | Jun 4, 2024 4:20 AM CDT

MSI has showcased a new range of gaming monitors at Computex 2024 and the company demoed a new AI gaming monitor that has the potential of completely disrupting the gaming industry, particularly the competitive space.

MSI officially showcases new gaming monitor that could change gaming forever

Introducing, the MEG 321URX, a QD-OLED gaming monitor that arrives with a 3840 x 2160p resolution, 240Hz refresh rate and a 0.03ms response time. While those specifications are certainly impressive, and is something I have complimented MSI for in my review of the display, it's not the aspect of the monitor that is capable of causing an uproar. The model showcased at Computex 2024 featured the same specifications, but with a few key changes and that was the inclusion of a light bar and what MSI calls AI Sky Sight.

This new technology was originally spotted at CES 2024, but has now been changed according MSI representatives at the MSI booth on the showroom floor. MSI describes the new version of the MEG 321URX as the "World's first true AI gaming monitor" as Sky Sight uses an AI engine to scan the game that is being played and provide the player with additional information.

The first day of Computex 2024 is here and to kick things off MSI has unveiled its latest ultrawide gaming monitor that now arrives with gorgeous OLED pixel technology.

MSI unveils new 34-inch OLED gaming monitor with 240Hz refresh rate for $900

MSI was kind enough to give me a tour of their booth at Computex where they showcased the company's latest and greatest offering in the ultrawide form factor. Introducing, the MSI MPG 341CQPX, which features Samsung's new ultrawide QD-OLED panel that provides incredible rich colors and deep blacks. The MPG 341CQPX provides gamers with a 3440 x 1440p resolution that's combined with a 240Hz refresh rate and a extremely low 0.03ms response time, thanks the QD-OLED pixel technology.

As for what generation of QD-OLED panel the MPG 341CQPX, reports indicate that it features Samsung's Gen 1.5 pixel technology, which means text fringing may be an issue, similar to the text issues we have seen in some of Samsung's early generation OLED panels. These issues were ironed out in its third generation OLED panel technology.
