Grok 4.7 is out and Elon Musk has highlighted the game creation capabilities of the new model, boasting that it will be able to make "photo-realistic and physics-precise games", while showing off an early GTA-style offering.
Musk pointed to a post on X from a Grok 4.7 user, X Freeze, who claims to have "built a GTA-style open-world game from a single prompt in Grok Build". It's possible to explore the cityscape, enter cars and drive them around.
Popular Now: Tests show Ryzen 7 9800X3D gains only 2% more performance in games jumping from DDR5-4800 to DDR5-8000An illustrative video is provided, and while the clip makes it clear that the game is very basic - photorealistic it most certainly isn't, not unless you're taking snaps in Legoland - it's nonetheless impressive that this is apparently the work of the AI based off a single prompt.
Although we aren't told what that prompt was, and this has caused some of the denizens of X to doubt the truth of this claim: "I call BS. Show the prompt, or it didn't happen," as Chris posted.
Others are totally on board, mind, and at the other extreme, the enthusiasm needle is cranking up to levels that include posts such as "Grok 4.7 just speedran GTA development" from Dr GrokTrustee. (There may be an element of tongue-in-cheek here).
Whatever the case, Grok 4.7 is clearly a step forward, and SpaceXAI is billing it as its "most powerful model for coding and knowledge work" which is "twice as fast, at half the price of comparable models."
Meanwhile, as the speed of AI development forges onwards at an accelerating pace, there's an equally accelerating set of concerns being voiced about where we're headed (especially on the cybersecurity front).

As for gamers, AI polishing up visuals in the form of NVIDIA's DLSS 5 is controversial enough, let alone full-blown game development by LLMs. This is inevitably a road that's going to be explored, though, and it'll be interesting to see how graphically realistic those Grok games can get.
