YouTuber Coooley is offering a $1,000 bounty to anyone that can find the rarest item in Diablo 2 Lord of Destruction.
Diablo 2 is one of the most addicting games ever mostly because of its loot system, and finding that perfect item roll is extremely satisfying. Some items in Lord of Destruction are so rare and valuable that perfect versions haven't ever been found. Players have even put paid bounties on these ultra-rare drops, offering to pay real money for proof of ownership. Diablo YouTuber Coooley is bringing this challenge back, offering $1K to whoever can prove they own a perfect ethereal Tomb Reaver on Battle.net.
"I think us D2 players can do it. In light of Diablo 2 approaching 27 years of existence, I'm bringing back the bounty. I'm pledging $1,000 of my own money to the first person that can show me a perfect eth Tomb Reaver, in D2R, on Battle.net."
"One thousand dollars just to show it to me," Coooley reiterates.
It won't be an easy find. Tomb Reaver has 7 different varying stats, which all significantly decrease the odds of it dropping. Coooley does a quick bit of math to figure out the odds of a 100% perfect ethereal Tomb Reaver to drop, and they are astronomically against you at 1 in 71.05 trillion.
"If you've ever found this item, it is very unlikely that anybody in the history of Diablo 2 has ever found one exactly like yours," the YouTuber said, highlighting the extreme rarity and variances in the item's stats.
It seems highly unlikely that anyone will actually find the eth perf Tomb Reaver, but this is just a small footnote in the history of Diablo 2 that could lead to more bounties being placed on more items. This kind of interactive engagement is great for online communities, especially tight-knit ones with lots of history like Diablo.
