The studio shared the update through the game's official X account. Apparently, a 60 FPS performance mode was already in the works, but it was still being tested. Rebel Wolves weren't ready to promise it yet; however, that has now reversed.
That Friday reveal is what sparked the backlash in the first place. Rebel Wolves had confirmed the console versions would ship with only Quality and Balanced modes, targeting 30 FPS and 40 FPS respectively, with no 60 FPS option even on PS5 Pro. Fans pushed back hard in the replies and across social media, and the studio addressed it directly.
"We heard your feedback. It was clear how much this mattered to many of you, so we focused on finishing the next round of tests. Those results gave us the confidence we needed to confirm Performance Mode for Day 1."
With the update, PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X will each get three modes at launch: Performance targeting 60 FPS, Balanced targeting 40 FPS, and Quality targeting 30 FPS. PS5 Pro also gets extra visual enhancements. Xbox Series S misses out and stays locked to a single 30 FPS target.
It's worth noting the studio is still framing these as targets, not guarantees, so actual performance may vary in demanding scenes.
