Battlefield 6 just got its latest major update, Season 4, which introduces the biggest map in the game so far. Tsuru Reef is a large and dense island chain that sees a previous luxury resort become the battleground for land, sea, and aerial combat supporting all modes in the game. It also introduces a new wave system for the water that adds a dynamic layer to the series' all-out warfare.

Throw in new vehicles, weapons, and the return of the classic Wake Island map that's set to debut later in the season, and Battlefield 6 continues to evolve as it heads toward its first anniversary. However, all is not well for PC players rocking the latest GeForce RTX 50 Series graphics cards, as several players have been reporting issues with the game crashing when using the latest GeForce Game Ready 610.74 WHQL driver.
Popular Now: Valve confirms if Half-Life 3 will be a Steam Machine exclusiveThis has led the official Battlefield Comms account on social media platform X to issue a statement confirming the "NVIDIA GPU Driver Crashes on Certain Maps." The statement confirms that the issue affects NVIDIA GPUs, "more concentrated among players using GeForce RTX 50 Series cards," but not all PC gamers with GeForce RTX cards are affected.
The teams at EA, DICE, and presumably NVIDIA are investigating the issue, with the current solution being to roll back to NVIDIA driver version 596.49 from May 2026. EA also notes that if these issues persist after rolling back drivers, players can share their crash information so the team can "narrow down the cause." By the sounds of it, it looks like the issue could be related to the Season 4 update requiring a hotfix from EA, or something specific to the latest GeForce Game Ready 610.74 WHQL driver that might require a hotfix from the GeForce team at NVIDIA.
Here's the statement in full.

Known Issue: NVIDIA GPU Driver Crashes on Certain Maps
We're investigating an issue on PC where some players may experience a GPU driver crash when playing on maps with large bodies of water, including Tsuru Reef.
Based on our current data, the issue appears to affect NVIDIA GPUs, with reports more concentrated among players using GeForce RTX 50 Series cards. The issue does not appear to affect all players using these GPUs.
While we continue working with NVIDIA to identify a resolution, players experiencing repeated driver crashes are advised to temporarily roll back to NVIDIA driver version 596.49.
If crashes continue after rolling back, please share your GPU model, driver version, affected map, and any available crash report details in our Technical Issues page on our EA Forums, to help us narrow down the cause.
We'll provide another update as soon as we have more information.
Thank you for your patience while we investigate.
