Grand Theft Auto 6 pre-order speculation has exploded again, with a newly spotted Walmart backend edit recently adding more fuel to the theory that Rockstar is preparing to open the floodgates to pre-orders quite soon.

The latest rumor comes from users on Reddit and GTAForums, who claim Walmart now has a backend listing tied to Grand Theft Auto 6. The key detail is a product ID that reportedly continues to surface as GTA 6 even when the visible URL text is changed, suggesting it may be attached to an actual Walmart database entry rather than a simple search result.
This comes only days after a separate Best Buy affiliate email suggested GTA 6 pre-orders could begin on May 18, with PC Gamer noting that multiple creators claimed to have received the same message. However, there are conflicting reports.
Wccftech cited insider claims that pre-orders are not expected to open on Monday, with a more realistic window potentially landing around July or August. GamesRadar also poured cold water on another piece of supposed evidence, noting that Rockstar website pre-order code being circulated by fans has existed since at least 2024.
When the story is looked at from a 20,000 foot view, to me at least, it immediately feels like another classic GTA 6 rumor, and not one with substantially more credibility than any other typical GTA 6 rumor. The game is still set for November 19, pre-orders are expected eventually, but there is still no official confirmation from Rockstar, Take Two, Walmart, or Best Buy.
According to GTAForums user Graczdari_91, "I don't want to disappoint anyone, but internal company emails suggest that Best Buy has got it wrong and no pre-orders will be launching today. Things might change at the last minute, but I'd advise keeping your expectations in check."
The internal email referenced by the leaker was then sent over to a GTAForums admin, who wrote in an update, "Verified in DMs. The company email also matches the one the member used to register on the forum, as they've suggested before they used their work email here."
