TL;DR: NVIDIA plans to launch DLSS 6 with the Rubin-powered GeForce RTX 60 Series, featuring advanced AI-driven neural rendering that enables real-time generation of game worlds, NPCs, quests, and more. This technology aims to deliver "infinite gameplay" by augmenting existing games with limitless AI-generated content.

With the controversial DLSS 5 set to launch later this year, which leverages AI to transform a game's lighting and visuals to achieve a more photorealistic look, it sounds like this might only be the beginning of a DLSS future focused on advanced neural rendering. According to a new rumor from the known NVIDIA and GeForce RTX insider 'anthony256,' the company plans to debut DLSS 6 with the Rubin-powered GeForce RTX 60 Series.

As for what it will enable game developers to do, well, it's definitely ambitious and controversial. Leveraging the advanced 6th Generation Tensor Cores in the GeForce RTX 60 Series that are currently being tuned and finalized specifically to accelerate neural rendering, DLSS 6 will take a bold leap beyond even Multi Frame Generation and DLSS 5, with a powerful new AI model that can generate "infinite gameplay."

Now, the claim of leveraging AI to generate "infinite gameplay" is a little vague, so let's take a closer look at a couple of DLSS 6 examples that NVIDIA is reportedly showcasing to game developers to get them on board. One includes a form of procedural generation in which DLSS 6 takes an existing open-world Elder Scrolls-style RPG and leverages its visual assets and game data to generate new locations, enemies, and even boss battles in real time. The demo apparently expands the developer-created world as you play, making it larger and packed with more to do.

In this open-world RPG example, DLSS 6 also leverages NVIDIA ACE technologies to create new NPCs (non-playable characters) that react to player actions and can even offer complex, multi-threaded AI-generated quest lines with full voice acting and animation, all generated while you're in-game. According to the early leak, DLSS 6 is all about augmenting an existing game and its design with new AI-generated gameplay and content, and it runs in real-time the moment you start playing.

A second DLSS 6 example that NVIDIA is reportedly showcasing to developers is a bit more straightforward, taking the concept of a racing game. Here, DLSS 6 leverages AI to dynamically "take over" and "create new" computer-controlled racers, and to make real-time changes to the environment, including weather, to make each race feel more dynamic and immersive.

There's also a DLSS 6 demo where the AI can turn a single-player game like The Last of Us or Assassin's Creed and "transform it into a co-op experience that you can play with a real friend or an NVIDIA-powered AI agent" with functioning voice chat, netcode, and even split screen using DLSS 6 Multi Screen Generation. According to the full insider report, which you can read here, NVIDIA was planning to formally showcase the world's first DLSS 6 demo at Computex 2026 with the tagline "never stop playing"; however, as the DLSS 5 debut hasn't gone down so well, the company is reportedly looking to push it back to CES 2027.
