Earlier this year, we reviewed the ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5080 and praised its "incredible 4K gaming performance" that delivers up to double-digit gains over NVIDIA's Founders Edition reference design.

With the arrival of DOOM: The Dark Ages on PC and consoles, ASUS has partnered with Bethesda and id Software to create a custom ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5080 DOOM Edition GPU to celebrate the latest release in the iconic series. With custom colors that include a couple of fans looking like the Slayer's, gold fins, and a custom backplate, it's an incredible-looking GPU.

At Computex 2025, we got to go hands-on with one of these rare beasts (the ROG Astral is one of the largest GPUs on the market), as only 666 are being made, and even used it to play some DOOM.

Naturally, like the premium ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5080, this limited-edition custom model carries a rather high price tag, already available for pre-order at the Bethesda Gear store. The ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5080 DOOM EDITION Bundle, priced at (an eye-watering) $1,999.99 USD, includes:

With only 666 GPUs being made, this is more of a collector's item than anything else. This means you might place it on a shelf behind some glass and never use the vapor chamber cooling, phase-change thermal pad, or high-end PCB. Okay, maybe a playthrough or two of DOOM: The Dark Ages, which is set to get its impressive Full Ray Tracing or Path Tracing update in June. And then put it on display.
