Nintendo has delayed pre-orders in Canada to make sure all of North America is on the same track.

A bit ago, Nintendo made the controversial (but apparently necessary) decision to delay Switch 2 pre-orders in the United States. Nintendo may simply have to raise the price of the Switch 2 in North America, especially the United States, because of ongoing trade tariffs. Now that pre-order uncertainty has been extended to Canada.
"Pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 in Canada will not start on April 9, 2025 in order to align with the timing of pre-orders to be determined in the U.S. Nintendo will provide updated information at a later date. The launch date of June 5 is unchanged," Nintendo told website MobileSyrup.
Nintendo has since clarified that trade tariffs were not factored into the Switch 2's original $450 price tag. Analysts had previously believed that the Switch 2's MSRP included some sort of barrier against an assumed tariff from the Trump Administration, but Nintendo of America President Doug Bowser says this isn't the case.
Bowser's words imply that Nintendo could indeed raise the price of the Switch 2 in North America, a critical region that represents a significant portion of Nintendo's annual spending.
Some analysts even said that the Switch 2 could have cost $350 if it weren't from the specter of tariffs.
Nintendo has not telegraphed any sort of Switch 2 sales or shipment target to investors, but that information may be revealed sometime in May during a quarterly earnings report.
