Saudi Arabian stakeholders are weighing a combination that could see EA merged with Savvy Games in a bid to unify and align the business, sources tell Bloomberg.

New reports indicate that Saudi Arabia's PIF management are contemplating merging the newly-acquired Electronic Arts with its existing Savvy Games Group. The goal, sources tell Bloomberg, is to help balance its games business and "ensure better coordination between its assets."

Counting EA, Savvy/Saudi Arabia's PIF has made and/or funded 3 out of the top 10 video game acquisitions of all time.
It has also been revealed that the $55 billion deal to take EA private was principally funded by Saudi Arabia's PIF.
No details have been confirmed or announced regarding a merger; however Savvy Games CEO Brian Ward did recently just step down. It's unclear if Ward's departure is related to these reports.
The video games industry is going through a period of painful squeezing as companies cut costs and lay off hundreds, if not thousands of workers. The next generation of consoles remains uncertain as rumors of a potential delay circulate as companies continue trying to adapt to rising component costs that drive up console prices to the $900 range.
