TL;DR: NVIDIA released DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction via the NVIDIA App, completing the DLSS 4.5 suite. The Transformer-based AI denoiser combines denoising and super resolution to restore ray-traced detail (reflections, shadows) with similar performance, broader training, developer tuning, and support across GeForce RTX 20-50 Series GPUs.

NVIDIA announced and launched its latest DLSS 4.5 update earlier this year, a revamped version of its groundbreaking Super Resolution and Frame Generation tools powered by a second-generation Transformer model. As seen with DLSS 4.5's Super Resolution update, the new Transformer model not only improves image fidelity but can also restore detail not present in DLSS 3.5's CNN model or even the baseline DLSS 4 Transformer model.

However, as the full DLSS 4.5 suite of technologies includes Super Resolution, Frame Generation, Dynamic Multi Frame Generation, and Ray Reconstruction, it's been incomplete - until now. As part of its Gamescom 2026 announcements, NVIDIA released DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction, which is now available in all compatible games thanks to the NVIDIA App's override feature. And it's a game-changer for titles with Path Tracing or Full Ray Tracing like Remedy's Alan Wake 2.

For those that need a refresher, DLSS Ray Reconstruction is an AI-powered denoiser built for ray-traced lighting effects. Compared to traditional denoisers, it can reconstruct more detail for better reflections, shadows, and occlusion effects. What makes DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction an impressive update isn't simply the use of a more powerful Transformer model, but how the underlying tech unifies denoising and Super Resolution into a single model.

According to NVIDIA, it not only adds detail to things like shadows and reflections in games, but also maintains performance similar to previous versions, even with 35% more compute and 20% more parameters. It's also trained on a larger dataset and gives developers finer tuning control to ensure the best results. At its core, DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction uses the same technology that powers DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution, with improved pixel sampling and motion data processing to keep ray-traced content clear even in motion.

Frequently Asked Questions

Open a question for an answer from TweakTown's coverage of this news, or ask your own below.

Question #1

Which games currently support DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction via the NVIDIA App override?

The primary article states DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction is available via the NVIDIA App override in Crimson Desert, Resident Evil Requiem, and Pragmata.
Question #2

How does DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction affect performance compared to previous denoisers?

Question #3

Can DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction be enabled for path-traced titles like Alan Wake 2 using the NVIDIA App override?

Yes. The primary article states DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction is now available in all compatible games thanks to the NVIDIA App's override feature, and cites Remedy's Alan Wake 2 as an example of a path-traced title that benefits from it. It is available to all GeForce RTX gamers from the RTX 20 Series onward.
Question #4

What visual improvements does DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction claim to provide for reflections, shadows, and occlusion?

Have a question about this content not listed here? Ask below and TweakBot will answer it.

Like DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution, the new Ray Reconstruction is available to all GeForce RTX gamers, from the RTX 20 Series through the RTX 30, RTX 40, and current RTX 50 Series. Of course, it's built for games with heavy ray-tracing and path-tracing, so you'll need a powerful card to run it. And with that, thanks to the latest NVIDIA App update, it's available in the biggest ray-traced releases of the year, including Crimson Desert, Resident Evil Requiem, and Pragmata. NVIDIA also confirms that the DLSS SDK for developers has been updated with DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction.
