The Subject is now available on Linux and Windows platforms

DarkStone Digital has made major updates to their sci-fi puzzle game "The Subject" over the previous months and is proud to announce that The Subject has now been released on Linux. In addition to being ported to Linux; both Windows and Linux versions have received various quality of life updates, controller support, key binding, and changes responding to user feedback.


Both the Windows and Linux versions of the game can be found on Steam:

In addition to the updates that have taken place; the windows versions can now be purchased on in addition to Steam. The Linux versions will be available on as well in coming weeks.

About The Subject:

The Subject is a sci-fi puzzle game inspired by classic puzzle adventure titles and 80s sci-fi. The player is a prisoner purchased from a commercial prison auction to be a test subject for an experiment at BioMass labs. The player must learn the complex, solve puzzles, and avoid the monster roaming the halls.

About The Developer:

Brian Clarke is a solo indie developer with over 13 years of experience in the AAA game space. After working at larger studios, he left to work on co-development of the indie title Welcome to the Game II with Reflect Studios. After launch, Brian went on to found DarkStone Digital and start creation of the flagship title The Subject.
