Scottish rock band Manta Sound covers classic tunes from Final Fantasy VII, Super Smash Bros., Sonic the Hedgehog and several hidden gems
SEATTLE - November 9, 2018 - Materia Collective is excited to release Joystuck, a laid back indie rock album performed by Mantra Sound. Based out of Edinburgh, Scotland, Mantra Sound is a collective of music-for-media performers and creators who've come together to craft their debut EP comprised of game music favorites alongside hidden gems that don't often get this kind of treatment and will expose listeners to something new. Joystuck is now available:
- Joystuck on Bandcamp
- Joystuck on iTunes
- Joystuck on Spotify
"For our debut EP, we came together as a special six-piece band and rolled up our sleeves to record heart-felt and affectionate live performances of some of our favorite game music tunes," comments Mantra Sound. "It was hard to choose what to record from so many shared and loved soundtracks - but ultimately we landed on a collection of music that had meaning to us all in some way, both from our childhood and more recent lives. Joystuck is both a celebration and tribute to the art that accompanied our growing up - and when a group of musicians who love videogames get together, the result is bound to sound something a little like this!"
Joystuck features fan favorite themes from Super Smash Bros./The Legend of Zelda, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Final Fantasy VII along with some pleasant surprises from Crash Bandicoot, Super Bomberman, and Life is Strange. The full track listing for Joystuck is as follows:
