According to the Dallas News, Gearbox president Randy Pitchford was robbed of millions by former personal assistant John Wright Martin over a period of many years. The crimes started in 2015 when Wright started charging thousands of dollars to Pitchford's business account for non-work related expenses. These included lavish apparel, resort stays, and more. By 2016 the charges became more severe.

The newspaper goes on to say Martin owes the Pitchfords nearly $3 million. Multiple cases are still open against Martin and he's yet to be caught by police.

"As much damage as he did, he didn't destroy us," Randy Pitchford told the publication.

As for Gearbox Software, the company is currently developing Borderlands 3, which should release by March 31, 2020 on major games platforms. The company's publisher 2K Games has yet to officially announce the sequel, however Gearbox has confirmed it many times.

Gearbox has published various games here and there, but Borderlands 3 will be its major release in so many years.
