Recent reports say that Destiny and Marathon could be unified in some way, with Bungie planning a big surprise cross-over. That's not happening. Marathon's creative director Julia Nardin squashed the rumor with a simple Tweet, saying that the two franchises are, and will remain, separate.

The false info stems partly from Bungie adding a PVE mode into Marathon, which makes it feel one step closer to becoming Destiny.

Sony is also dialing back spending on big productions due to economic uncertainties like the weak yen and a bid to preserve profits, and Sony has adjusted how its money is being invested in new projects and games as a result.

Destiny 2 has been put on the back burner, but it's still online, along with its microtransactions and DLC.
