Xbox CEO Asha Sharma briefly discussed exclusive games, potentially indicating that more exclusive titles are conditional and depend on the health of the Xbox business.

Xbox is returning to exclusivity, and has announced two console exclusives that won't launch on PlayStation or Switch: Gears of War E-Day and Clockwork Revolution in 2027. Microsoft's goal is to release one exclusive game per year.
New statements from Xbox CEO at Gamescom 2026 highlight how executives are thinking about this exclusivity approach. Sharma tells the BBC that, in regards to exclusives, Xbox will do "the best we can" to keep the momentum going.
"We're increasingly going to be one of the largest platforms in the world. Every platform needs some form of exclusive experiences and content. And so, what we've shared is Gears and Clockwork...we're going to do the best we can to continue to do that, all in the context of the business being healthy."
"So we have to balance that."
When asked point-blank if The Elder Scrolls VI would be made exclusive to Xbox consoles and withheld from PlayStation, Sharma said:
"It's a beautiful game."
Whether or not TESVI is exclusive has become a heated debate among enthusiast gamers, with one side arguing that it would make the next-gen Xbox, Project Helix, a must-have system. Bethesda's own numbers are pretty convincing, though, and it's likely that Skyrim and Fallout 4 wouldn't have sold so many tens of millions of copies if they hadn't also launched on PS4 and PS5.
