TL;DR: President Trump demands Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan's immediate resignation over conflicts of interest due to his extensive ties with Chinese companies. This controversy intensifies amid Intel's ongoing struggles with poor 18A yield rates, credit rating downgrades, and fierce competition from AMD in CPUs and AI accelerators.

President Trump has called for Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan to resign immediately, after it was discovered the new Intel CEO has ties to Chinese companies.

President Trump: Intel CEO is 'highly CONFLICTED, must resign immediately' over ties with China 08

In a new post on Truth Social, President Trump said: "The CEO of Intel is highly CONFLICTED and must resign immediately. There is no other solution to this problem. Thank you for your attention to this problem!"

The post from President Trump calling for the resignation of the Intel CEO comes after a Republican Senator sent a letter to the Intel board of directors, as Lip-Bu Tan had earlier ties with Chinese companies that are now becoming a mainstream issue, and President Trump wants him to resign.

Lip-Bu Tan does indeed have a deep involvement with Chinese companies, where he had control of over 40 companies in China and minority stakes in over 600 companies. Tan has reportedly divested his positions, but those ties with Chinese companies are still intact. It's not illegal for executives to invest in Chinese companies, but as the face of one of the biggest American chipmaking companies, the issue of a conflict of interest does arise.

Now his position as the CEO of Intel is under scrutiny, and in the headlines, Intel operations could face a major issue if its top leadership doesn't change, and that is only being super-fueled by President Trump's latest remarks. Intel has been struggling for many years now, with recent issues seeing the company have reports hit the internet that its new Intel 18A yield rates are trash, which isn't a good look for its next-gen Panther Lake CPUs that will be made on 18A.

Not just that, but recently Fitch downgraded Intel's credit rating to two notches below "junk status", and on top of that... President Trump just hosted Apple CEO Tim Cook at the White House where he unveiled another $100 billion in US-based semiconductor business, totaling $600 billion from Apple that will be used on US soil. Cook also announced the American Manufacturing Program (AMP) which will bring more manufacturing for Apple's devices onto US soil, and create thousands of new American jobs.

AMD has been non-stop drilling Intel in consumer CPUs, server CPUs, data center CPUs, and has outright crushed Intel in the AI accelerator business, which Intel has nearly failed completely. Lip-Bu Tan must be stressing right now, I know I would be, and that was before President Trump shined a global spotlight on the Intel CEO.
