The new ADATA Premier Extreme SD 8.0 Express memory card will debut in a 512GB capacity, but we should expect higher-capacity 1TB, 2TB, and larger models in the months ahead. SD Express technology was introduced in 2018 with the SD 7.0 standard, but we're only seeing super-fast versions of those SD 7.0 cards recently, thanks mostly to the Nintendo Switch 2.

ADATA's newest Premier Extreme family is being expanded with the new SD Express 8.0 options, featuring a PCIe 3.0 x2 interface, with reads of up to 1.6GB/sec (1600MB/sec) and writes of up to 1.2GB/sec (1200MB/sec).

The company explains: "ADATA Technology is currently the first company to launch SD 8.0 Express specification memory card in the market, leading the industry in technology. The new Premier Extreme SD 8.0 Express memory card is equipped with PCIe Gen3 x2 interface and NVMe transfer protocol, with maximum read/write speeds up to 1,600 / 1,200 MB/s, performance. It is 2 times faster than SD EXPRESS 7.0, 12 times faster than UHS-I SD memory cards, 4 times faster than UHS-II, and even surpassing commercially available external SSDs, completely rewriting the speed bottleneck of traditional memory cards".

"The memory card also supports U3, V30 video speed class, and comes with 512GB large capacity, easily handling 4K video recording, RAW image processing, or multitasking. SD Express 8.0 supports multi-device simultaneous access, further enhancing data integration efficiency. The product also has built-in LDPC ECC automatic error correction technology and has passed multiple rigorous tests such as waterproof, shockproof, anti-static, and high and low temperature resistance, providing comprehensive protection for data security".
