TL;DR: Ubisoft plans to transform its top franchises—Rainbow Six, Assassin’s Creed, and Far Cry—into billion-euro annual revenue brands through a new subsidiary backed by a $1.2 billion Tencent partnership. The company aims to build evergreen brand ecosystems while maintaining full control over development and growth.

Ubisoft has plans to supercharge three of its biggest blockbuster franchises, but the exact strategies remain under wraps.

A bit ago, Ubisoft announced a huge $1.2 billion partnership with Tencent; in exchange for a big cash influx, Tencent gets 25% stake of a new Ubisoft subsidiary. This new Ubisoft subsidiary is separate from the main Ubisoft unit and will handle all future development and production of Ubisoft's three biggest franchises: Assassin's Creed, Rainbow Six, and Far Cry. Now the French games-maker has shared more details about its aspirations for the future.

In the recent FY25 earnings materials, Ubisoft notes that it will "focus on building brand ecosystems capable of becoming evergreen, billion-euro franchises." What the slide didn't say is that Ubisoft wants its 3 core franchises to each eventually make 1 billion euros per year.

In a recent earnings call with investors, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot confirmed this tidbit and also said that the first franchise that will receive this focus overhaul is Rainbow Six

"What we really want is of course to make these three big brands become billionaire brands on the Euro, yearly basis, first with Rainbow Six, then Assassin's Creed, and after that, Far Cry--that will first need to get to the multi-billion euro level."

Ubisoft also wants to grow Ghost Recon and The Division, as well as other live brands like The Crew, Guillemot said.

Shortly after, Guillemot also re-affirmed that Ubisoft's main parent company will oversee the new subsidiary that's elevating these brands to new heights:

"We'll be fully consolidating and fully controlling the entity, and as we mentioned, Tencent will have around 25% of rights."
