The rumors were right: Today Bethesda revealed the Oblivion remaster in all of its Unreal Engine 5 glory, complete with major visual overhauls to graphics, dynamic lighting, and everything in between. The teams have also made some big changes to leveling and overall game mechanics.

While details are light because the game just dropped, the Oblivion remaster developers say the game's leveling system has been updated with Skyrim mechanics. This presumably means the remaster could use Oblivion's overall leveling system with Skyrim's level scaling.

"It's not just the visuals that we've modernized in the remaster, it's gameplay. It's UI, and UX. We've updated features and systems across the board."

"We've changed the approach to leveling, which I think will make a lot of people happy. It's inspired by the leveling systems of both Oblivion and Skyrim, so it's the best of both worlds."
