After the Note7 fiasco, there was speculation of what will happen with the Note line and whether Samsung will discontinue it which would be a shame since the Note7 was a wonderful phone (apart from the exploding batteries).
Earlier this year, DJ Koh, Samsung's Mobile Chief, confirmed that the Note isn't dead and we will be seeing the Galaxy Note 8 later this year.

There's no doubt that the Note 8 is coming, and now a new rumor says that Samsung is working on the project under a code name Baikal. FYI, Baikal is a lake in Russia, considered to be the largest freshwater lake by volume in the world, the world's deepest lake, and one of the clearest and world's oldest lakes.

The leak doesn't reveal anything other than the code name, but previous rumors suggest that the Note 8 will have a 4K display and Bixby AI assistant.

The Note 8 will likely debut this fall, and I am certain that Samsung will put extra effort into delivering an amazing device. But, we will first need to see the new Galaxy S8 and S8+.
