Samsung teases its massive 49-inch 32:9 gaming display

Samsung shows off its new 49-inch 32:9 super-wide gaming display @ Gamescom 2017.

Samsung unveiled its huge super-wide 32:9 aspect ratio display earlier this year, but now the company has shown it off to gamers at Gamescom 2017 in Cologne, Germany.

Samsung's new CHG90 QLED Gaming Monitor rocks a massive 49-inch panel with a never-before-seen 32:9 aspect ratio, twice as wide as a 16:9 panel, and even wider than the current crop of 21:9 aspect ratio UltraWide displays. Samsung's new CHG90 rocks a 3840x1080 resolution, providing the horizontal pixels of a 4K display, but the vertical pixels of a 1080p panel.

Inside, we have the hardcore gaming worthy 144Hz refresh rate,. but Samsung also lets you knock it down to 60/120Hz if 144Hz isn't your thing. We also have FreeSync/Active Sync support, with a 1ms response time and Game Mode options that gamers can play with on the Samsung CHG90.

There will be picture-in-picture support through multiple display sources, with Samsung including 2 x HDMI and 1 x DP as well as audio ports on the CHG90. Samsung's new QLED technology combines the worlds of Quantum Dot and OLED technology, too.

Samsung will have its new CHG90 available in Europe after Gamescom, with no pricing or availability in other markets just yet.
