MSI has showcased the world's first QD-OLED gaming monitor with AI Care Sensor at Computex 2025, which is a new gaming monitor offering that features a camera that snaps images every 0.2 seconds of the user in front of it.

The world's first monitor is the MPG 271QR QD-OLED X50, which is MSI's latest QD-OLED gaming monitor that sports an incredible 500Hz refresh rate at a 2560 x 1440p resolution. Along with other incredibly impressive features, which are listed below, MSI has equipped the MPG 271QR QD-OLED X50 with an always-on CMOS sensor (camera) that captures images every 0.2 seconds for real-time human detection. You are probably wondering why you would want a camera taking photos of you every 0.2 seconds? I wondered the same thing, so I asked MSI about it at Computex 2025.
The AI Care Sensor is part of MSI's suite of OLED Care features, and the reason it snaps images so rapidly is so the Neural Processing Unit (NPU) found within the display can train on images of the user to determine when and when they aren't sitting in front of the display. The idea behind the monitor is that when a user walks away from the monitor, it will automatically dim the pixels, reducing the likelihood of burn-in occurring on the QD-OLED panel. But what happens with the images?

I asked MSI about the privacy concerns surrounding an always-on camera built into a display, and the company said the monitor doesn't save any of the captured images within the display or send them to an MSI server. The images are deleted immediately after the training process has been completed. Moreover, users who don't want to use the feature at all can disable the camera altogether.

Other specifications worth highlighting with the MPG 271QR QD-OLED X50 is the mandatory panel refresh timer being increased from 16 hours to 24 hours, meaning users won't have to engage the Panel Protect process for an entire day, DisplayPort 2.1a for uncompressed video, a 0.03ms (GtG) response time, and three year warranty.

MSI will be launching the MPG 271QR QD-OLED X50 at an MSRP of $899 and it will become available on July 17, 2025. If you are interested in seeing MSI's other monitor offerings from Computex, check out the link below.
