De-Boxing

The standard issued Logitech box hides an ominous new creation that, judging by the price tag, will become another welcome addition to the many other Logitech products that now take pride of place on my desk.

We can see from the lack of a blister window that this is no ordinary pad tracking rodent; something very special lies in wait for us in this cardboard cube. The picture on the front hints at something different from a conventional mouse, something far sexier.

Open the front flap and all you get is a gloss print of sleek metallic mouse butt. The wording on the inside of the flap cryptically teases us that this beast need not be chained to a desk.

Cracking the matt black seals on the tray inside, we lift to see the sleek black and silver of the mouse nestled securely in the tray along side the stubby USB-RF transceiver. The lid in my hands feels strangely heavy. Turning it over, we see there is a flat envelope of goodies with the simple wording of “designed to move you”, Logitech’s new catch-phrase for their living room accessories.

Included said goodies are a manual, software CD, regional disclaimer and chamois style dust cloth for removing greasy paw marks from your black and silver beauty.

Removing the black plastic tray we discover the charging dock and power adapter. The dock maintains the same minimalist veneer as its mousy counterpart and has a good weight to prevent it toppling while your mouse is charging; not that this would happen because the mouse uses a new lithium ion battery and the whole thing weighs next to nothing when you pick it up...
