Intel rumored to not have next-gen Battlemage GPUs for laptops, only discrete graphics cards
Intel will be launching its next-gen Xe-HPG "Battlemage" GPU architecture later this year, where we're being promised new discrete Battlemage graphics cards for gamers in 2025... but man, these new leaks are a continuing depressing story for Intel and its GPU department.
In a new video, Moore's Law is Dead goes into some detail about Intel's next-gen Battlemage GPU, saying that Intel will not have any add-in GPUs for laptops based on its Battlemage architecture. Why? Well, laptop makers and OEMs just don't want to bother with it after Alchemist, which is a pretty major deal.
MLID had one of his sources also talk about the "ultra-enthusiast" Alchemist+ GPU: "Honestly, I have no idea where that guy that roadmap with "Alchemist+" discrete on it allegedly launching in 2023... all I can tell you is that there were no legit roadmaps with ACM+ on them by the time the A770 launched... if ever".
NVIDIA RTX 4070 Ti Super GPU reportedly sold well on launch - showing the value of 16GB VRAM?
Some reported sales figures for NVIDIA's just-released RTX 4070 Ti Super paint a much more positive picture than other recent leaks around the RTX Super refreshes.
VideoCardz noticed the report from German site 3DCenter, which details the purported launch day figures from Mindfactory, a major retailer in that country.
Obviously use caution around any leaked figures, but we're told that the RTX 4070 Ti Super shifted 280 to 300 units on its first day (some approximation is involved with how some models sold).
MSI releases BIOS update for its GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER GPUs that boosts performance by 5%
Our first GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER review, which you can read in full, covers the premium ROG Strix OC model from ASUS. Usually, the first reviews we publish for a GeForce RTX launch cover reference-spec cards that launch with prices that match the MSRP set by NVIDIA. And that was the plan, with our review of the MSI GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER Ventus 3X ready to drop.
But, a day or so before the review was set to go live, we got word that it was underperforming by around 5%, so we postponed the review because it wouldn't make sense for it to include incorrect benchmark data and conclusions.
Today, the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER launches, bringing 16GB of VRAM and a boost to 4K gaming performance for the same $799 MSRP; MSI has released a statement about the performance discrepancy alongside an apology and a way for all those who pick up an MSI branded GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER to update the card's BIOS to reclaim some performance.
Intel Arc driver offers 30% boosts for DX11 games, sparking excitement for Battlemage GPUs
Intel has a new graphics driver incoming and it's going to be another in a line of releases that seriously bolster the frame rate shifting power of Team Blue's Arc Alchemist graphics cards.
VideoCardz reported that Intel has sent out a note to some press outlets about the imminent new driver - which might be coming as soon as later today - enthusing about the performance boosts it contains.
We are talking about an average of 30% faster frames rates - yes, that's the average gain, not a best-case 'up to' percentage - for DX11 games.
NVIDIA's new graphics driver supports RTX 4070 Ti Super GPU and transforms SDR videos into HDR
NVIDIA has released a new GeForce Game Ready GPU driver that brings in support for the just-released RTX 4070 Ti Super graphics card, and does a lot more besides.
Probably the most eye-catching trick here is the introduction of RTX Video HDR, which uses the RTX graphics card's Tensor cores to take video in Standard Dynamic Range and seriously jazz it up with far more vivid colors HDR-style.
It also ekes out additional detail that may have been lost thanks to video compression on the likes of YouTube, NVIDIA notes, and you can see RTX Video HDR in action in the video above.
NVIDIA RTX 4080 Super leak suggests a GPU that might be a touch faster than we expected
NVIDIA's RTX 4080 Super is the only Lovelace refresh left to be released in January - it comes out in a week's time, on the last day of the month - and we're now starting to see leaked benchmarks for this graphics card.
Benchleaks has flagged up a number of results for the RTX 4080 Super with the main caveat being that these are Geekbench runs - not the best way of evaluating a GPU's gaming chops, of course.
We also need to add seasoning to any leaked benchmarks, but with all that noted, the scores are obviously still worth examining.
AMD Fluid Motion Frames has launched, bringing frame generation to every DirectX 11 and 12 game
AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 24.1.1 is here, and it's a big one, with the latest Radeon graphics driver not only adding support for the brand new AMD Radeon RX 7600 XT 16GB (stay tuned for our full review), but it marks the official release of AMD Fluid Motion Frames (AFMF) - the driver-based frame generation technology for all Radeon RX 6000 and RX 7000 owners. Plus, Radeon 700M mobile cards too.
AFMF can be enabled in all DirectX 11 and 12 games globally on a per-game basis, and when paired with upscaling technology like FSR 2, it can "boost FPS up to 97% for a smoother gaming experience." AMD highlights the new Radeon RX 7600 XT specifically in the release notes while adding that AFMF preserves image quality by automatically disabling when fast movement is detected.
Like all frame generation, a baseline performance of around 60 FPS is recommended before turning it on - in addition to enabling AMD Radeon Anti-Lag to reduce in-game latency.
AMD's fastest RDNA 4 GPU could offer RX 7900 XTX performance at $400 (if we're lucky)
We've been hearing more from the rumor mill about AMD's next-gen GPUs courtesy of Moore's Law is Dead (MLID).
The YouTube leaker outlined some further thoughts and theories regarding AMD's incoming RDNA 4 graphics cards in his latest video (see above).
Apparently what we're going to get is the top RDNA 4 GPU targeting around RTX 4080 or 7900 XTX performance, but making this far more attractive by upping the value proposition considerably.
NVIDIA's Blackwell GPUs could be 30%-40% faster than Lovelace - but RTX 5090 may hit 60% uplift
NVIDIA's Blackwell graphics cards should be a considerable step forward, or that's the latest nugget from the GPU grapevine - and we've had some theoretical pricing sketched out, too.
As Moore's Law is Dead (MLID) outlines in a new video, NVIDIA will be beefing up its GeForce range considerably with these next-gen graphics cards.
What will end up as the RTX 5000 series of GPUs, most likely, should be around a 30% to 60% performance uplift throughout the range compared to Lovelace.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER, RTX 4070 Ti cards are floating around, released early for some
NVIDIA's new GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER and GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER graphics cards aren't quite yet released, but some gamers have already got their hands on fresh SUPER graphics cards. Check them out:
One Reddit user has a new GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER graphics card two days before launch but without drivers... it's useless right now. Redditor "LightMoisture" tried testing the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER in synthetic benchmarks, which actually worked... but no gaming benchmarks without working GeForce drivers.
We can expect the upcoming GeForce 551.15 drivers to support the upcoming GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER, which will launch on the day NVIDIA launches its new RTX 4070 Ti SUPER: January 24, so we're not far away now. Reviewers will have their hands busy right now with early drivers and their fleets of RTX 4070 Ti graphics cards to review, so having an RTX 4070 Ti early doesn't really help if you're not a reviewer with internal drivers.
