Grand Theft Auto V will require an 8GB installation

Grand Theft Auto 5 is nearly here, but it looks like PS3 and Xbox 360 owners are going to have to do some spring cleaning on their consoles before installation, as it will require an 8GB installation before you can get into the game.

This is going to take quite sometime to get installed, more so on the Xbox 360 which will have GTA V arriving on two DVDs. The PS3 version will come on a single Blu-ray disc, which will make things a little easier. Xbox 360 owners with just 4GB or 8GB are going to be in trouble, where they'll need external storage before they even consider purchasing Rockstar Games' latest open-world title. Rockstar are already on damage control, preparing gamers to install GTA V so that they avoid disappointment.

There's a retail version planned, which should arrive on August 6. Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition includes all of the DLC that arrived in the months after Mortal Kombat's launch on consoles in 2011 including playable characters Skarlet, Kenshi, Rain and Freddy Krurger (yes, the one from the A Nightmare on Elm Street series).

PS3 owners can purchase the digital copy of the original, non-Komplete Edition of Mortal Kombat for just $9.99 this week, and just $5 for PlayStation Plus members.

RumorTT: Facebook could enter the mobile gaming industry

Facebook have a million tricks up their sleeves, with the latest one sliding out and onto their hand is the news of the largest social network in the world entering the mobile gaming industry.

Instead of making the games themselves, they would simply act as the publisher where they would offer marketing capabilities and services to independent game developers. Facebook would in return take a cut of the revenues. According to a piece on TechCrunch, Facebook would distribute and promote the games using targeted advertising on mobile devices.

In just the first quarter alone, Facebook generating $373 million from the mobile ad industry, a very nice number. It will be hard to fight against the juggernauts that are the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, but Facebook have over one billion users, it will be interesting to see where they are in twelve months from now if this turns out to be true.

'Low Violence Version' of Saints Row IV appears on Steam for Australian gamers

Saints Row IV was banned in Australia because of at least one reason: it featured an alien anal probe. After the ban, a "Low Violence Version" has appeared on Steam.

This version is available to Australian customers, with an explanation of what was changed in order to become the "Low Violence Version" as well as escape the ban. Publisher Deep Silver will most likely modify the game enough so that the Australian Classification Board will accept it, but what exactly will they compromise on?

Minecraft 1.6.1 'The Horse Update' has gone live

The unstoppable Minecraft has a new update available, which is known as "The Horse Update". The Horse Update pushes Minecraft up to version 1.6.1, which - you guessed it - includes horses in the game now.

Mojang have also provided donkeys and mules, which can be bred and spawned naturally. These animals do require taming before you can ride them, but once you do you can ride them around in the game world, adding chests to their saddles. You can also name your horses like other 'pets' and add all sorts of armor like iron and diamond.

The Horse Update also includes improvements, such as a conversion tool that lets you convert texture packs to resource packs, which will allow you to add sounds to different items. This update includes the usual performance and stability fixes, as well as improvements in riding mounts, respiration enhancements, extra tooltips, carpets in different colors which can be added on blocks, and like you can do stain wool you can now do stained clay.

Don Mattrick, the head of Xbox for Microsoft, is leaving head up Zynga

Weeks upon weeks of bad publicity may have just taken their toll on one of Microsoft's top officers. This afternoon, reports are beginning to emerge that the man in charge of all things Xbox for Microsoft, Don Mattrick, is apparently leaving the company. AllThingsD is reporting that Mattrick will be headed to a top leadership role at Zynga, the once king of mobile gaming.

TweakTown image news/3/1/31489_1_don_mattrick_the_head_of_xbox_for_microsoft_is_leaving_head_up_zynga.jpg

This move is quite sudden and unexpected as we have seen Mattrick push the Xbox One console harder than he ever did for the Xbox 360. Some industry insiders expect Mattrick's resignation to be the result of weeks of negative sentiment and massive backlash generated by the Xbox One's previous DRM policies.

During his time at Microsoft, Mattrick molded the Xbox 360 from being just a gaming console into an entire home entertainment system. He jockeyed for the integration of Netflix as well as dozens of other streaming services. Mattrick also headed up the development of the groundbreaking Kinect sensor, but also had to deal with massive overheating issues and inherent console flaws that caused irreversible damage.
