NVIDIA unveils the 790i SLI Ultra

Published: 18th March 2008 @ 8:21 PM
Author: Steve Dougherty

Already superseeding the barely three month old flagship desktop motherboard chipset from NVIDIA, the nForce 780i SLI, and alongside the launch of their GX2 graphics card launch today comes the "nForce 790i SLI Ultra".

This newly refined chipset brings some much welcomed advancements to enthusiasts looking to go the way of SLI; some of which include a refined northbridge chip which boasts 32 lanes of PCIe 2.0 grunt alongside DDR3 and native 1600MHz FSB support.

Given NVIDIA's decision to do a Duo launch on the 790i SLI Ultra and 9800 GX2 today, several hardware review sites have chosen to pair the two together to see if it makes for a truely ultimate platform. You can get to all the coverage via the below links (which we'll continue to update over the next 24 hrs as the content keeps streaming in).
