Logitech has announced that it has acquired Saitek for $13 million, taking the company away from competing peripheral maker MadCatz.
Logitech G gaming brand boss Ujesh Desai said that the acquisition of Saitek allows the company to build peripherals that Saitek are known for, including joysticks and customized wheels for racing games and sims. But it was the tease of VR peripherals that is the bigger news in a way here.
Desai said that Logitech G could jump into the VR market with input devices, and with Saitek concentrating more on game-specific peripherals like Star Citizen with themed controllers, Logitech G now owns Saitek and could do this in a much bigger way in the VR market. Saitek will also enjoy the success Logitech has built over the years, solidifying itself with more support and money to continue development on even better products under Logitech G.
