ASUS today announced USB-AC53 Nano, the world's smallest 802.11ac Multi-User MIMO (MU-MIMO) USB Wi-Fi adapter. With USB-AC53 Nano, users now have a plug-and-forget way to upgrade almost any laptop to super-fast dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi with speeds of up to 867Mbps on the 5GHz frequency band or 300Mbps on the 2.4GHz band.
World's smallest 802.11ac MU-MIMO USB Wi-Fi adapter provides a simple, fast, plug-and-forget upgrade for laptops
With routers generally adopting Wi-Fi standards before they are widely available in mainstream laptops, users are often faced with a dilemma when their older laptop does not allow them to enjoy the full benefits of these new high-speed routers. USB-AC53 Nano provides the perfect solution to this problem.
As well as being easy to install and use, USB-AC53 Nano is small enough to allow it be left plugged in all the time with little risk of physical damage to either the laptop or the adapter.
The antenna design uses a 2x2 (two transmit, two receive) internal antenna array, with ASUS AiRadar Beamforming to optimize the Wi-Fi signals for fast, stable connections.
- World's smallest 802.11ac MU-MIMO USB Wi-Fi adaptor: Miniature size allows it to be left in a laptop without fear of damage or obstruction
- Instant Wi-Fi upgrade for laptops: Enables almost any laptop to enjoy the benefits of 802.11ac Wi-Fi and connect to new high-speed routers
- Perfect for streaming and gaming: Dual-band support for fast, interference-resistant connections and full compatibility with all Wi-Fi standards
World's smallest 802.11ac MU-MIMO USB Wi-Fi adapter
Measuring just 20 by 14 by 7mm, USB-AC53 Nano is the smallest available USB Wi-Fi adapter to incorporate MU-MIMO technology. As it is barely larger than a Type-A USB port, it can be safely left inserted all the time, with little chance of damage to either the adapter or the USB port when moving around, and less risk of losing or forgetting the adapter. As well as being incredibly convenient, its miniature size also means it will not interfere with access to any adjacent USB ports.
Instant Wi-Fi upgrade for laptops
In general, only newer high-end laptops have built-in support for 802.11ac Wi-Fi, so users with laptops supporting the older, slower 802.11n standard cannot enjoy the full performance benefit of high-speed 802.11ac routers. USB-AC53 Nano solves this problem - instantly.
Also, there are now many 802.11ac MU-MIMO-capable routers, but there are very few devices that support this powerful feature. The revolutionary MU-MIMO technology allows multiple compatible MU-MIMO devices to operate simultaneously at their maximum possible speed, enhancing the overall bandwidth of the network. However, MU-MIMO technology only works when both the router and device are MU-MIMO-compatible, so once again USB-AC53 Nano delivers a powerful instant upgrade for older laptops by adding MU-MIMO capabilities when connected to a MU-MIMO router.
Perfect for streaming and gaming
The dual-band USB-AC53 Nano supports speeds of up to 867Mbps on the 5GHz frequency band or up to 300Mbps on the 2.4GHz band. The 5GHz band, which is less prone to interference from neighboring Wi-Fi networks, is perfect for smooth streaming of 4K UHD videos or lag-free gaming. The dual-band capability is especially useful for users with laptops that only have single-band (2.4GHz) Wi-Fi support, and for dual-band 802.11n devices USB-AC53 Nano usefully upgrades the 5GHz performance to 802.11ac speeds.
USB-AC53 Nano has a 2x2 (two transmit, two receive) internal antenna array, and uses ASUS AiRadar beamforming to focus the Wi-Fi signal in order to minimize interference and improve signal strength.
