Meet the world's 1st phone covered with interactive LED

MWC 2017 - One of the phones that attracted the most attention at this year's MWC was the Alcatel A5 LED, the world's first interactive LED-covered smartphone.

The LED-covered back of the phone can be programmed to light up your notifications with a different light show for incoming calls, messages, alarms, and social media alerts. You can create unique LED cover pattern and themes, or chose a program with a light show that moves accordingly to the music you are playing.

William Dowie, Portfolio Management Director, Alcatel, said in an official statement:

With the innovative A5 LED, Alcatel is delivering new fun features, like light-up notifications and unique LED cover patterns and themes you can create yourself, as well as an enhanced multimedia experience. It is ideal for people who value having fun and letting their personality shine.

The Alcatel A5 comes with a 5.2-inch display and is powered by a MediaTek MT6753 octa-core processor. Under the hood, there is 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, expandable with a microSD card.

The A5 doesn't have a fingerprint sensor, but the 2,800 mAh battery is pretty decent for a lower mid-range phone. The smartphone also packs a 8MP main camera and a 5MP selfie cam.

The Alcatel A5 will hit the European markets in May at a price of 199 euros (around $210). It will come with a Metallic Black LED back-cover and an additional Metallic Black or Metallic Silver back-cover.

I got to try out the phone myself, and it does feel and look unique. I will let you guys know more about the performances after the test, but one thing is for sure - this phone will make you stand out.
