Core i7 975XE hits 5015MHz on AIR!

AMD may have the sub zero overclocking record for now, but the latest Intel Core i7 975XE looks set to grab that crown back from them.

 

The new CPU is not yet officially out yet but as always some of the top overclockers managed to get their hands on a couple. They managed to get a D0 Stepping i7 975 XE up to an incredible 5015MHz on nothing but air.

Yup, you heard right they used a Thermalright Ultra 120 cooler and pushed it up that that speed for a nice suicide shot. They were able to also get a SuperPi 1M run out of it at 4750MHz.

 

The culprits in this deed were PcCI2iminal and Yoko and the postings on XS show the work and testing.
