Well, we really thought we had seen it all when it comes to insane tech toys but obviously not quite yet.

During the CeBIT trade show a local German company "Bling My Thing" is showcasing an Apple MacBook Air notebook computer which will set you back a staggering $20,000 pounds which is equal to just about $40,000 USD - we are not kidding you here.

The German company promises a product which will please even the most snobbish of your friends or so you would hope... So how do they do it?

Step 1 - get 12,000 or so transparent Swarovski crystals. Step 2 - paint the MacBook Air with 24 carat gold. Step 3 - place each crystal on one at a time on to the hand-painted surface.

There is said to be a total of 20 (that is twenty not twenty thousand) units being made with the "Golden Age" MacBook Air going on sale March 18. If you have $40k to blow on something, we couldn't suggest anything more ridiculous than this.
