It might not be the most conventional SSD array but it is the most impressive found at Computex this year.
Seven LSI 9260-8i controllers like the one we use here at the office for testing SAS drives fill the Supermicro workstation board. Each controller is capable to running 8 drives without using an expander. Patriot also managed to shove 12, 4GB sticks of memory in the board.
14 Patriot Convoy 425S Drive Bays were needed; each one is the same size of a standard DVD ROM but can hold up to 4 2.5" drives.
The end result, amazing! We will let you know what happens when we call Mary today and try to sample an Artemis II. I am sure she has one of these sitting in the corner of her office with our name on it.
