EA discusses why Skate is going free-to-play outside of the more obvious microtransaction-fueled live service business models.

Skate 4 will be a free-to-play game with microtransactions and cosmetics, but no lootboxes or pay-to-win mechanics, EA says.

EA's new Skate game will support user-generated content, possibly similar to the park editor feature in previous Skate 3.

Skate 4 developer Full Circle says the game won't be at EA Play Live on July 22, but a teaser will drop sometime tomorrow.
