The CPU and Test Setup

The packaging features a little note that says the CPU is compatible out of the box with 500-series boards (although you should update your BIOS to one with AGESA 1.0.0.4). It is compatible with 400-series boards with a proper BIOS update, and we found out that some 300-series boards will work as long as the vendor has a BIOS update for it. You will only get PCI-E 4.0 with the 500-series boards.

There is nothing special about the top side of the CPU or the bottom, but we should mention the CPU's internal heat-spreader is soldered.
