The Bottom Line

COLORFUL continues to extend its awesome range of iGame GTX 10 series cards with the iGame GTX 1070 Ti. Another solid release worthy of your money.

Introduction

COLORFUL blew me away so much with their iGame GTX 1080 Vulcan X TOP graphics card that I continued working with the company closely leading into the GeForce GTX 1070 Ti launch, and now - we have one of the best GTX 1070 Ti graphics cards made from COLORFUL in our hands.

COLORFUL iGame GTX 1070 Ti Vulcan X Top Review & GIVEAWAY! 10

If there's one thing that the Chinese graphics card giant does, it knows what its key market wants: beasty-looking graphics cards with the performance to match. COLORFUL has its impressive iGame GTX 10 series of cards that is being filled out here today with the iGame GTX 1070 Ti Vulcan X TOP graphics card.

NVIDIA has kept the GPU tuned for the GeForce GTX 1070 Ti so that it doesn't lose to the 18-month-old GTX 1070 or the more expensive GTX 1080. We have the same internals as the rest of the GTX 1070 Ti cards on the market, including 8GB of GDDR5 at 8Gbps and 2432 CUDA cores (up from 1920 CUDA cores on the standard GTX 1070).

COLORFUL does some great work on the cooling tech side of things with its iGame GTX 1070 Ti Vulcan X TOP rocking the impressive SWORIZER cooler that keeps the card cool under demanding gaming and cryptocurrency mining loads.

Detailed Specs

COLORFUL has the same GP104 at its center, with 2432 CUDA cores up from the 1920 CUDA cores on the regular GTX 1070. There's the same 8GB of GDDR5 memory that is clocked at 8Gbps, while the GPU clocks are higher on the new GTX 1070 Ti over its lesser-packed sibling.

COLORFUL iGame GTX 1070 Ti Vulcan X Top Review & GIVEAWAY! 201

NVIDIA clocks the reference GPU speeds to 1506/1683MHz on the GTX 1070 Ti FE, while COLORFUL knocks them up to 1607/1683MHz, respectively.

COLORFUL keeps the 8GB of GDDR5 at 8Gbps, but offers some overclocking headroom that we'll explore later on - especially with some Ethereum mining performance.

Cooling Tech

COLORFUL iGame GTX 1070 Ti Vulcan X Top Review & GIVEAWAY! 02

COLORFUL uses a massive triple-fan cooler on the iGame GTX 1070 Ti graphics card, something that I'm really beginning to dig the style of.

COLORFUL iGame GTX 1070 Ti Vulcan X Top Review & GIVEAWAY! 04

There's a huge backplate that keeps the rear of the card and its components cool, with a full-metal design.

COLORFUL iGame GTX 1070 Ti Vulcan X Top Review & GIVEAWAY! 09

COLORFUL might use a bulky cooler on the iGame GTX 1070 Ti, but that doesn't mean we have GPU sag... something that is virtually perfect here.

Inside, there are six heat pipes keeping everything nice and cool - important for miners, too.

The card requires a fair amount of room in your PC as it isn't a dual-slot card, but requires three slots in your system to fully give it room.

That's not an issue these days as gamers want their graphics cards running cooler - thus bigger cooler and more fans, while multi-GPU setups are dying in droves.

COLORFUL makes good use of the metal backplate on the rear of the iGame GTX 1070 Ti.

Right down to these small touches.

COLORFUL provides you with 2 x HDMI and 2 x DP that are joined by a legacy DVI port, which are accompanied by something specific to COLORFUL: a dual-BIOS physical button on the back of the card.

COLORFUL iGame GTX 1070 Ti Vulcan X Top Review & GIVEAWAY! 05

The DP ports are good for 4K at 120Hz and 5K 60Hz, while 8K will continue to work with two DP cables.

SLI support is here, making for some tasty GPU horsepower upgrades with two GTX 1070 Ti cards in SLI.

Test System

I've recently edited my GPU test bed, which was powered by the Intel Core i7-5960X processor, and shifted into the arms of Kaby Lake and Intel's new Core i7-7700K. COLORFUL iGame GTX 1070 Ti Vulcan X Top Review & GIVEAWAY! 374

Power & Temps

In stock form, the COLORFUL iGame GTX 1070 Ti inside of our test system consumes less than 300W while even overclocked we're looking at a maximum of 310-320W when overclocked.

COLORFUL iGame GTX 1070 Ti Vulcan X Top Review & GIVEAWAY! 02

The card itself consumes 180-190W of power at idle/load when gaming or mining crypto, which is beyond impressive considering the latest custom RX Vega 64 requires triple 8-pin PCIe power connectors. Yikes. Good for COLORFUL and NVIDIA, though.

Overclocking

COLORFUL has some headroom for overclocking with the iGame GTX 1070 Ti, with out-of-the-box GPU clocks of 1607/1840MHz for base and boost, respectively. I was able to push 200MHz more out of the GPU, bringing it up towards 2050-2100MHz and even reaching 2110-2115MHz in the right circumstances.

COLORFUL iGame GTX 1070 Ti Vulcan X Top Review & GIVEAWAY! 08

This does require more power, but the entire system only consumes 10-15% more and still brings it under 300W. I can't say the same about Radeon RX Vega 64 with our latest custom SAPPHIRE Radeon RX Vega 64 NITRO+ consuming 400W out of the box, and 440W when it's unleashed.

The overclocked performance of the COLORFUL iGame GTX 1070 Ti Vulcan X TOP graphics card gets bumped up by 10-15%, which is definitely something you can't sneeze at.

Ethereum Mining Performance

NVIDIA's new GeForce GTX 1070 Ti graphics card is one of the best price/performance/power cards for Ethereum mining, which is something I do on a semi-large scale (40-50 graphics cards). It's a big operation, and gives me the time to talk about Ethereum mining with every graphics card that comes through our labs.

COLORFUL iGame GTX 1070 Ti Vulcan X Top Review & GIVEAWAY! 10

COLORFUL's new iGame GTX 1070 Ti is a standout card thanks to its cool-operating and the triple-fan cooler isn't that loud when the fans are cranked to 100%. When you're mining cryptocurrency at home on a large-ish scale, the fans being pumped away at 100% is what you want, especially when you're like me in the middle of an Australian summer.

NVIDIA's stock GeForce GTX 1070 Ti Founders Edition on its own, stock clocks and all is capable of 26MH/s while the GDDR5 can be overclocked by a decent 500MHz or so and results in closer to 30MH/s of Ethereum performance. Not damn bad considering a dual GTX 1070 Ti system can mine 60MH/s combined for less than 500W.

Performance Analysis

By now we know that the performance of NVIDIA's new GeForce GTX 1070 Ti is the Radeon RX Vega 56 killer, with COLORFUL continuing NVIDIA's work of putting their boot firmly onto the neck of Team Red.

COLORFUL iGame GTX 1070 Ti Vulcan X Top Review & GIVEAWAY! 07

We have better-than-GTX 1070 Ti performance thanks to the overclock that COLORFUL provides, and then the additional headroom for overclocking which increases overall performance by 10-15%, further extending the GTX 1070 Ti and its lead over the RX Vega 56. You wouldn't buy the GTX 1070 Ti Founders Edition over the iGame GTX 1070 Ti, that's for sure.

COLORFUL's new GeForce GTX 1070 Ti is one of the best GTX 1070 Ti cards on the market, with perfect performance for 1080p and 1440p gamers and even enough GPU horsepower to easily handle 3440x1440 resolutions for UltraWide gamers. Playing Battlegrounds at 3440x1440 on the COLORFUL iGame GTX 1070 Ti is really hard to call 'work', but I had to try it.

Final Thoughts & GIVEAWAY!

Final Thoughts

We all know how good the GeForce GTX 1070 Ti is, and over time we're learning how great COLORFUL is at making custom GTX 10 series cards. Their new iGame GTX 1070 Ti Vulcan X graphics card is, with great performance and overclocking headroom that lets you overclock it another 10-15%

COLORFUL iGame GTX 1070 Ti Vulcan X Top Review & GIVEAWAY! 08

If you're in the market for a new GTX 1070 Ti and are running a 1080p or 1440p display, or heck even a 3440x1440 UltraWide gaming display, the iGame GTX 1070 Ti is something you should consider.

All-in-all, another great custom GeForce GTX 1070 Ti, with COLORFUL continuing to impress me I can't wait to see what they're able to do with future cards and whatever NVIDIA's next-gen GeForce graphics cards turn out to be.
