TweakTown Rating: 9.5%Manufacturer: BFG Tech

Test System Setup

Processor(s): Intel Pentium 4 EE 3.4GHz (800MHz FSB)

Motherboard(s): Gigabyte GA-8N-SLI Royal (Supplied by Gigabyte)

Memory: 2 X 512MB Corsair PC5400UL DDR2 (Supplied by Corsair)

Hard Disk(s): Western Digital Raptor 74GB 10,000 RPM SATA (Supplied by Western Digital)

Operating System: Windows XP Professional SP1

Drivers: nVidia Forceware 80.40 BETA

As most of the cards run off the reference design as far as core/memory speeds go, we will be comparing the BFG Tech 7800 GTX to our reference 7800 GTX that came from nVidia. Because we won't be venturing into SLI this time around we are not going to be hindered with the CPU limitation when running in SLI. We are hoping to see a real difference between the two cards.

As we mentioned the BFG is clocked at a whopping 460MHz core and 1300MHz memory compared to the stock 430MHz core and 1200MHz memory.

By combining full DirectX9.0 support with completely new tests and graphics, 3DMark03 continues the legacy of being industry standard benchmark.

Please Note: Due to recent events with the 3DMark03 series, we are adding results purely for those who are still in favor of 3DMark03. These results should not be taken too seriously and are only added for interest sakes.

In 3DMark03 we can see that we get a massive 1000 point increase over the reference design at the lower resolution and almost a 700 point increase at the higher resolution.

3DMark05 is the latest version in the popular 3DMark "Gamers Benchmark" series. It includes a complete set of DX9 benchmarks which tests Shader Model 2.0 and higher.

For more information on the 3DMark05 benchmark, we recommend you read our preview here.

3DMark05 shows a 200 point increase at the lower resolution and when we bump it up to 1600 x 1200 we see almost 400 more points with the BFG card.

How much does it cost?
