VisionTek Connect Dual Head USB 3.0 Display Adapter Review
Do you need to add more displays to your laptop or MacBook? Well, check out Tyler's review of the VisionTek Connect Dual Head USB 3.0 display adapter.
The Bottom Line

As of late, we have seen quite a few external display adapters utilizing DisplayLink technology come through the lab and today is no different with the dual head solution from VisionTek in the lab.
The VisionTek Connect supports both HDMI and DVI and has the ability to utilize both connections simultaneously. Maximum resolution is listed at 2048 x 1152, while being a bus-powered solution. The dual head VisionTek Connect is powered by the DisplayLink DL3900 chipset featuring 1GB of DDR2 with OS compatibility including Windows XP through 8.1 and OS X 10.6.8+. Within Windows, the Connect supports up to six monitors, while OS X supports four.
MSRP of the VisionTek Connect Dual Head Adapter is listed at $74.99 with a one-year warranty.

Packaging for the VisionTek Connect carries a few marketing details on the front including an image of the adapter centered.

The back of the packaging houses quite a bit of information about the adapter, along with system requirements.

Scope of delivery includes both a HDMI to DVI adapter and DVI to VGA adapter, along with reading materials, driver disc, and USB 3.0 cable.

The front of the Connect houses three LEDs that let you know the unit has power and what outputs are currently connected.

The read of the adapter houses the USB 3.0 port, DVI and HDMI ports.

Here is a view of the PCB; the DL3900 is the large chip in the middle, while next to it we have 1GB of DDR2 from Nanya.
The VisionTek Connect is a great device for those wanting to add multiple additional displays to your desktop PC, notebook or MacBook. The build quality of the adapter was rather good, while the design of the adapter was more user friendly than previous solutions we have seen in the lab, as it uses a flat base so it can sit on your desk.
Performance of the adapter was good and offered good video quality using DVI and USB 3.0. Switching over to HDMI, we had no issues running our Samsung monitor up to 1080p. The only issue we did have was the DisplayLink driver installation wouldn't run through on our test system, so we had to go through device manager and install drivers manually.
Overall, the VisionTek Connect worked without issue, and I was able to get both a 22" and 24" display up and running in less than 10 minutes off this single adapter.
