HD Tune is a Hard Disk utility which has the following functions:

Benchmark: measures the performance

Info: shows detailed information

Health: checks the health status by using SMART

Error Scan: scans the surface for errors

HD Tune Pro gives us accurate read, write and access time results and for the last couple of years has been gaining popularity amongst reviewers. It is now considered a must have application for storage device testing.

Using HD Tune Pro to read across the drive, we managed to reach a solid 400MB/s and the drive kept a very tight line across the graph.

Just as we witnessed in ATTO, the Strontium Matrix 120GB writes at a rate half of what it reads at. This can be an issue if you write a lot of data to the drive and expect next generation SATA III performance.
