Hamburg, 9 January 2009: Scythe Co., Ltd. (Tokyo, Japan) reacts to the increased demand of 2.5" HDDs and SSDs and presents new Bay Rafter 2.5. By this, up to two 2.5" hard drives or SSDs can be mounted in a 3.5" drive bay of a PC chassis.
Assembly of the Bay Rafter 2.5 is quite simple: Each disk is mounted with 4 screws on the Bay Rafter 2.5 and then inserted in the 3.5 "drive bay and fixed with screws. As up to two hard disks or SSDs can be mounted, the use of the Bay Rafter means saving space for example, when a RAID 1 or RAID 0 system is used.
To avoid data loss and to prolong the life of modern hard disks, it is necessary to cool down the HDDs actively regarding the thermal conditions within a PC chassis. The Scythe Bay Rafter 2.5 therefore offers the user an optional 80, 70 or 60 mm fan on the bottom.
Scythe Bay Rafter 2.5 is now commercially available for US$ 7.69 excluding TAX / 3.50 Euro excluding VAT.
For 3.5" HDDs, Bay Rafter 3.5 has been released.
