Shuttle Shows Off Slient Nano Powered PC
Powered by a VIA Nano U1700 processor, the XS29F is complimented by the VIA VX800 media system processor, bringing support for D-sub and DVI Dual video support, rich HD audio, Fast Ethernet, S-ATA II storage and up to 4GB of DDR2 system memory.
The VIA VX800 provides the VIA Chromotion video engine with hardware acceleration for today's more demanding video formats, including MPEG-4, WMV9 and VC1, while the VIA Chrome9 HC3 integrated graphics core boasts full DirectX 9.0 support. Back panel I/O includes both VGA and DVI ports, Ethernet, HD audio, PS/2 and four USB 2.0 ports.
Shuttle have engineered the XS29F to have a maximum power usage of under 50 watts for the entire system, housed in a small form factor, sub-3 liter chassis; almost one tenth the size of a regular desktop tower.

ATi Partners going ahead with Radeon HD4890X2
However, our sources in Taiwan claim that the ultra-overclocked board e.g. SuperRV790 isn't exactly what they are interested in. AMD GPG [Graphics Products Group, e.g. division F.K.A. ATI] recognized the need for even more powerful part, and gave the thumbs up to partners that want to do the 4890X2. In a YouTube interview for PC Games Hardware, Sasa Marinkovic [Product Manager for Consumer platforms: CPU, GPU, Chipsets] practically confirmed the X2 part. You can fast forward to six minutes into the interview for the "we're going flat out to capture the crown" statement.
Current king of the hill is GeForce GTX 295, dual-GT200b based card. Our sources claimed that they are ready with their own 4890X2 designs - power issues, in worst case can be addressed with two 8-pin connectors. If this truly comes to life, a 4890X2 would be the most power-hungry card on the market, with a potential to eat 375W [75W from PCIe slot, 2x8-pin for 300W].

Radeon HD 4890 Shipments Begin
That should be enough quantity for most and for the Radeon 4890 to not qualify as a phantom product.
Currently in talks with the reviewing media who have the final production boards already, the decision will be made pretty soon. It all comes down to the Catalyst team and if they can deliver the required drivers ahead of schedule. AMD could also do a repeat of the 4850 launch, a preview but with beta drivers and the review with the final drivers.

ASUS Preps Non-Reference Radeon HD 4890
As we inch closer to the early-April launch of AMD's newest graphics card, the Radeon HD 4890, pictures of the said card by various AMD partners are piling up. Among all the usual reference-design cards we have seen so far, that virtually every partner is working on, we have learned that ASUS is working on something bigger. The company already has a reference-design card in the works, and another one that is set to eye the top-spot in the range of HD 4890 cards that will hit the market.

Radeon HD 4890 gets run through 3DMark
I know some of you might want to say that HD4890 is just an overclocked version of HD 4870, but the test results is somewhat convincing. It shows a pretty good improvement in comparison with HD4870. The score on 3DMark06 is very close to GeForce GTX 285, but not on 3DMark Vantage because of the advantage of PhysX that GTX 285 has taken. Will HD4890 be fast enough to compete with GTX 285 in gaming? guess we'll have to see some more test results to be able to tell.

Radeon HD 4890 X2 A Possibility
Based on the information we received during our conversations it seems like the Ati Radeon HD 4890 (Single) will compete against the Geforce GTX 260 and not the GTX 285, since it seems like for the Ati Radeon HD 4890 only the frequencies of the GPU and the memory were increased. Accordingly the calculation units aren't changed. Basis for the increased frequencies is the 55 nm production process, which has been quite perfected by now. 850 to 900 MHz appear to be possible for the RV790 GPU; the RV770 of the HD 4870 is clocked to 750 MHz. As the GDDR5 memory of the HD 4890 (Single) is regarded, AMD wants to reach 3,900 million transactions/s - RV770 based cards reach 3,600 MT/s. Those numbers indicate an increase in gaming performance of 8 to 20 percent, depending on game and sequence.
