PlayStation 3 gets native YouTube app, helps you waste even more time
The PlayStation 3 never had any issues play YouTube before, thanks to it's browser with Flash support, but the user experience from a browser is never quite as good as a dedicated app. Last year, YouTube released a similar app for the Xbox and this release is likely to bring that user experience to Sony's PlayStation 3.
Even cooler is the app supports using your smartphone as a remote control for the app. After following a simple pairing process (screenshot below), the device is the controller. The app also supports instant suggestions and will offer suggestions as users type. Additionally, it can pull your subscribed channels.
As YouTube puts the features:

EA, Microsoft working together to bring games to Windows Phone 8
We probably should admit we knew this was coming, and not just TweakTown, but most readers of our site. But, Electronic Arts, the world's second largest game maker, has announced their working with Microsoft to bring games to Windows Phone 8. Electronic Arts' COO, Peter Moore, told Bloomberg:
Game sales haven't been the best for the company this year, where they've been down 37% so far, but the game maker is looking to think out side the box, with that box being the retail box game market. EA wants to get more titles online, onto tablets, and phones. The company believes that Microsoft's upcoming Windows Phone 8 will be central to this new handset strategy.

Xbox 720 'Durango' development kit sold on Ebay for $20,100
Someone who managed to get their hands on an Xbox 720 'Durango' development machine took a big risk by throwing it on Ebay. Turns out that the big risk was seemingly worth it as the auction has now ended with the sales price being just a bit north of $20,000. But don't worry as "All proceeds go to charity. And by charity, I[he] mean my[his] new car."
Posted by user SuperDaE, this was the latest move in a series of leaks that were sure to be angering Microsoft. Prior to this auction, DaE had been leaking images of the tower. This tower is nowhere near what the final version of the product will look like. It is just the hardware so that game developers can start making games ahead of launch.
Since the appearance of the development kit isn't known by anyone except for those who have it, it's a bit difficult to say if this is the real deal. The case looks like a standard computer case and could easily house standard PC components. We will have to wait until the purchaser goes public with the details.

Crysis 3, CryEngine 3 trailer gives us a preview of the eye-candy we can expect from Crysis 3, actual in-game footage used
It's time to start getting excited for Crysis 3 and CryEngine 3. I already gave it an award from when I saw it at E3 and it continues to impress. The creators of Crysis and CryEngine, CryTek, have given us a new glimpse into the technical capabilities of the CryEngine 3 graphics engine, the engine that powers Crysis 3. Make sure to watch the video below in 720p and full screen--it makes it that much better!
Words aren't really necessary, but I'll attempt to get them back after watching that video. The video highlights the technical achievements managed by the CryTek team. Lens flares, dynamic cloud shadows, dynamic fog shadows, cloth and vegetation simulation, and tessellated vegetation all combine to make the game world incredibly beautiful.
And then there's the "top secret tessellated toad tech." Not sure why they have this, but it certainly looks good. I wonder if it will rain toads in Crysis 3 as a sign of the apocalypse. No? Well, I'm sure it's there for a reason. Tell us what you think about the video in the comments or on our Facebook page!
Sleeping Dogs to get some very nice PC-exclusive features
PC gamers are definitely getting looked after when it comes to United Front Games' title Sleeping Dogs. The developer is working with Square Enix's London Studios, and are looking to make the PC version of the game something special indeed.
A new post on the official Sleeping Dogs' website shows that a bunch of PC-specific features will bring the Hong Kong island to life. If you've got the horsepower, there's optimizations for the latest AMD and NVIDIA-based GPUs that'll impress. Sleeping Dogs will ship with a high-resolution texture pack, "bringing eye-watering detail and crisp clear rendering to everything from city skyscrapers to crumbling ancient temples."
The developers have added another layer of depth at higher resolutions, using increased small object detail which renders items from a much greater distance with an "incredible sense of scale and detail". In-game shadows have also received some lovin', where they'll have support for high-resolution shadow textures, high quality shadow filters and support for Screen Space Ambient Occlusion (SSAO).

Next-gen Xbox looks to support Skype, according to a Microsoft job ad
According to a Microsoft job advertisement, it has revealed that the next-generation Xbox will support Skype. Xbox maker, Microsoft, are looking for a "UI Designer & Prototyper - Xbox", to work at the company's UK-based Skype division on projects that are related to the "next-gen Xbox". The job ad also says:
The job ad also states that the successful candidate would be "working with the Xbox team directly in Redmond, USA. (both current Xbox and next gen)". Well, is that enough proof of the next-gen Xbox? Or will Microsoft also deny this, and claim it never happened and was taken out of context? Are you surprised that the next-gen Xbox will support Skype? I'm not. The company acquired them, and the next-gen Xbox is going to need to throw everything including the kitchen sink into the next-gen Xbox if it wants to survive in the market when it hits.

Microsoft says Xbox Live switch from MS Points to real money a "glitch"
It looks as though Xbox Live could soon be doing away with Microsoft Points, even as Microsoft claims the change is just a glitch. On Wednesday, some Avatar items showed up on Xbox Live with real, local currency price tags instead of Microsoft Points. Later that day, the prices reverted back to the traditional Microsoft Points.
Was it a slip? Signs point to yes and this is a good thing. The idea behind virtual currency is that it gets consumers to spend more money than they otherwise would. Hence a change to real currency would be much appreciated by many as users would no longer need to do the conversion to figure out just how much they are spending.
Microsoft told GamesIndustry yesterday:
Ouya's journey on Kickstarter comes to an end, they finish with $8.5 million and over 63,000 backers
Ouya's journey on Kickstarter has come to an end, and what a journey it has been. The Kickstarter-funded, Android-powered home gaming console raised its required $950,000 goal in 24 hours, and since then has reached limits that the creator didn't even realise.
We've posted a few times about Ouya, as it is a great story of gamers all across the world coming in and pledging their money toward a device that isn't even available yet. There were multiple models to choose from, with some Kickstarter-exclusive models that are sure to get people bragging once they receive them. The $225 (or more) pledge was a Kickstarter-exclusive, where you received an Ouya console, with two controllers, each with your username ETCHED into it. Yes, how cool is that. I managed to get in on one of those, and I'm incredibly excited as there are only 2,500 of them making their way out to people.
Ouya received over $200,000 in the last couple of hours of funding, as well as over 1,000 more backers. Ouya finished its Kickstarter funding with $8,579,673, and 63,264 backers at the time of writing. This number is slowly increasing with the few remaining pledges.
Day Z passes one million players, soon to offer standalone version
Zombie apocalypse game, Day Z, if you haven't heard about it, is a mod for ArmA II, and has been quite successful. It's talked about quite often, and started out as just as play around mod by Dean Hall. But, his mod for ArmA II has just passed one million players, after only being available in April of this year.
The mod hasn't even reached beta status yet, and has been announced its going to be featured in its own standalone game. The announcement of the game was made on the official Day Z Tumblr this morning, with Bohemia Interactive, who is the studio behind ArmA II handling development. Hall will serve as project lead. Hall has some words on the standalone release:

OMGTT: Evidence of Source 2, Half-Life 3 has been found in Source Filmmaker SDK
When typing this news, I had to type the 'summary', where I fumbled and typed "Half-Life 2", because I'm not used to referencing Half-Life 3, and in my fanboy excitement, mistakes happen. I picked it up, and here we go: some very eagle-eyed developers at ValveTime have seen some discoveries worth posting some news about. It was also worthy of a new creation 'OMGTT', in the title of this news.
The discovery is that Valve are working on a next-gen Source engine, Source 2, the next version of their 10-year-old engine. Valve's Source engine has powered some of the biggest PC games of all time, such as Half-Life 2, Portal and its sequel, Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead and its sequel, and more. Evidence of Source 2 comes from Valve's own Source Filmmaker, which is a free movie-making tool that allows users to create videos using the same assets from within the Source engine itself.
A comment was found on one of SFM's python files provides the best evidence of Source 2's existence to date:
