CD Projekt Red tease 30 hours of new content for The Witcher 3

Anthony Garreffa | Apr 8, 2015 12:17 AM CDT

We only reported on Sunday that CD Projekt Red were going to provide an insane 200 hours plus worth of content in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, but now we're hearing about some future DLC that will add over 30 hours of more adventures for gamers.

CD Projekt Red has started talking about two new expansions, with the first, Hearts of Stone, dropping in October. Hearts of Stone will see players traversing the wilds of No Man's Land, as well as the city of Oxenfurt in order to secure a contract from Man of Glass. The second expansion, Blood and Wine, will be released in Q1 2016. Blood and Wine will see a new in-game region for the game called Toussaint, which the developer explains as "a land untainted by war, where an atmosphere of carefree indulgence and knightly ritual masks an ancient, bloody secret".

The studio will be offering gamers an Expansion Pass for $24.99, which will include all DLC, but these two expansions can be purchased separately for $9.99 and $19.99 for the Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, respectively. If you were to buy The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and the Expansion Pass together, it will cost $84.99 for the Xbox One and PS4, while PC gamers save $5, costing $79.99.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided details leak, headed to Xbox One, PS4 and PC

Anthony Garreffa | Apr 7, 2015 7:35 PM CDT

Details on the sequel to Deus Ex: Human Revolution have been released, with Square Enix preparing Deus Ex: Mankind Divided for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.

Russian website Kanobu is reporting on the new title, with the site reporting that Deus Ex: Mankind Divided will have Adam Jensen continue his path in the series, where he will have new augmentations and new technology to play with. Screenshots from the game are shaping up absolutely beautifully, so let's hope that we don't get a massively watered down version of the game once it gets closer to release.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided reportedly takes place two years after the events of Human Revolution, where Jensen is now a part of an Interpol-backed team that hunts down augmented terrorists. We should expect a full reveal on April 8 at 9am PT.

Angry Joe quits covering Nintendo over his flagged YouTube videos

Anthony Garreffa | Apr 6, 2015 10:31 PM CDT

One of the biggest YouTubers, Joe "Angry Joe" Vargas, has said he has stopped covering Nintendo games after the Japanese gaming giant started a dispute with him over his Mario Party 10 video.

Angry Joe's video on Mario Party 10 was flagged by YouTube, which led to him tweeting what you see below. After that, Angry Joe went on a tirade against Nintendo (and rightly so). His Twitter feed is a rage-filled rant against Nintendo and their policies, with most of the gaming community seeming to be behind him.

The bigger reason behidn this is that Nintendo seems to want revenues from videos shared by users - launching their own Creators Program earlier this year. This allowed YouTubers to release videos about Nintendo games, as long as Nintendo was given some of that sweet, sweet revenue. But, not every game is in this program, with Mario Party 10 being one of them.

Red Dead Redemption 2 rumored to be unveiled at E3, headed to PC

Anthony Garreffa | Apr 6, 2015 8:24 PM CDT

We've heard rumors of Red Dead Redemption 2 hitting the Xbox One, PS4 and PC, but according to Reddit user 'AnonDN1978' - who claims to be an ex-Rockstar developer - the studio will unveil RDR 2 at E3 2015.

The game will reportedly be called Red Dead Redemption 2: Legends of the West, and will be a prequel to the original game. It will reach the Xbox One, PS4 and surprisingly, the PC - one month after release, so in Rockstar Games time, probably 12-18 months after the consoles get it. The game will supposedly take place in the same area as its predecessor, with three playable characters. Two of them will be from the first RDR title, with the third being a completely new character.

What will Red Dead Redemption 2 offer? You can expect that customization to be a big part of the game, where players can customize their clothes and horse. The third character, which you can name, can have all sorts of different Western themed clothes customized - tops, bottoms, hats, gloves and more.

The Witcher 3 has over 200 hours of content

Anthony Garreffa | Apr 5, 2015 11:30 PM CDT

We're getting much closer to the new release date of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, with CD Projekt Red teasing that there will be over 200 hours of content.

Senior Game Designer on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Damien Monnier, said on Twitter that this 200 hour length came from "everything" - which includes side quests, and everything in between. Comparing this to The Witcher 2, which had around 50 hours of content - inclusive of time playing around - this is a huge increase in content.

You're not going to want to get through 100 hours of gameplay and die with the new "Dark" gameplay mode, where death is permanent.

Titanfall 2 rumored to include traditional campaign, many more weapons

Anthony Garreffa | Apr 4, 2015 1:29 AM CDT

According to Respawn Entertainment's Community Manager, Abbie Heppe, Titanfall 2 could see a traditional campaign and many more weapons added to it over its predecessor.

Bella Ryse from The EXL Podcast asked Heppe about a campaign and more weapons for Titanfall 2, Heppe wasn't specific. But, she also didn't deny the possibility of these things, reiterating that Respawn knows what the fans want,t and that the developer has some ideas, too. Heppe teased: "When you work on a game for so long, there's always lots of things we - especially everyone here internally has all different sorts of things [they want to do]".

She continued: "We've definitely heard the feedback. Obviously, I can't comment on what we're doing in the next game, but the really nice thing about working on a sequel is that we've established the core of what Titanfall is. We have assets, we have an engine, we have all of these things that we laid the foundation for in the first game that now we can really build off of in the second". Heppe finished, by teasing: "So, I think there's going to be a lot of stuff that people are going to be excited about".

UK wants to attract game developers, offering tax breaks

Michael Hatamoto | Mar 31, 2015 8:25 AM CDT

Digital game developers are being enticed to head across the pond and set up shop in the UK, with millions of dollars in possible tax breaks. Up to an estimated £115 million ($171 million) could be at stake over the next four years, though the government hasn't set a tax break cap yet.

To qualify for the tax break, however, developers will be required to take a "cultural test," in an effort to verify they are creating games directed to Europe. Games in the English language, made by European developers, in-game locations in Europe, or with characters with European influence, will earn more points of the test.

"I remember when people were first talking to me about this," said Jason Kingsley, chairman of the London-based game industry group Tiga, in a statement published by the Wall Street Journal. "They were saying, 'Are we going to have tons of games based on double-decker buses and people with bowler hats?" The answer is no. But you could have games like that, and they would probably qualify very easily."
