OnLive Game System up for pre-order right now

Shane McGlaun | Thu, Nov 18 2010 1:00 PM CST
I will admit that I was excited at the prospect of OnLive when I first heard about it. Once I learned more about the system and realized that you had to pay monthly to access the OnLive network and still buy the video games, I wasn't nearly as interested in the service. I have tried OnLive and in my instance, it had some lag and the graphics weren't as good as some stand-alone games I have on my gaming PC, but it was certainly playable.

RumorTT: PSP2 dev kit pics?

Anthony Garreffa | Wed, Nov 17 2010 6:01 PM CST
Well, well Sony - I clap in your general direction. There are pics out from an early Sony PSP2 development kit. Is it just me or do the pics (in their blurry quality) feel like an ultrasound when you have a baby on the way (having done this just months ago myself, with the arrows pointing to different parts of the babies growing body) but anyway! Pics!

Just like a growing baby - the PSP2 is in early stages yet obviously - but from these pictures obviously taken with a 45 year old camera, it looks to have a HD screen, two cameras (front and rear), microphone, two thumbsticks and a rear "trackpad".

LevelUp offers cool Rock Band Storage ottoman

Shane McGlaun | Wed, Nov 17 2010 2:00 PM CST
I really like to play Rock Band with my kids and friends every now and again. The thing I hate about Rock Band though is that the controllers that go with the game to take up lots of space. I have two-guitar controller, the drums, mic, drumsticks and other stuff that I have to find a place to stash after we are done playing. That can be a challenge and typically I end up with the drums upstairs, the drum sticks under the bed, and guitar controllers other places.

If you have the same issue storing and finding all your Rock Band gear, LevelUp has a great new storage device specifically made for Rock Band hardware. The storage ottoman is called the Rock Band Storage ottoman and has enough space inside for you to store your unassembled drum kit, games, standard controllers, and a lot more. The lid has Velcro loops for holding two guitar controllers.

We all knew it was a matter of time before the latest update to the Playstation 3 firmware fell to the hacking community. The modders at PSJailbreak claim to have a break for the latest 3.50 firmware for the PS3 and are also claiming it will be good for any future versions as well.

The jailbreak is USB drive based and allows unapproved software, games, and even Linux installs on your PS3. PSJailbreak is also opening a sister site that will allow firmware downgrades for the PS3 at PSDowngrade.com. Google engineer paying cash for the coolest Kinect hacks

Don Lynn | Fri, Nov 12 2010 5:54 PM CST
You wouldn't think that the folks at Google would be driving people towards the competition, but engineer Matt Cutts is so stoked about the possibilities that Microsoft's Kinect has to offer that he's offering cold hard cash to the coolest hacks that he can find.

A $1000 prize is being offered to the developer who creates the best open source program or demo based around the Kinect. A second $1000 will be given to the developers who can create a simple Linux based Kinect program writing application. We've already seen several hacks around like the multitouch functions that Cameron wrote about earlier today and a nightshot function, so it will be interesting to see what people can come up with when there's cash on the line as well as internet famousness.

N-Control Avenger is the Borg gamers Xbox 360 controller

Shane McGlaun | Fri, Nov 12 2010 12:00 PM CST
I have said it before, when it comes to FPS games the only way to roll in my opinion is with a mouse and keyboard. I can't play with a gamepad in my hands from an Xbox 360 without flailing about on screen like a noob. I know there are some people out there that are hard-core Xbox 360 gamers and can play with the gamepad with some leet skillz, but I am not one of them. If you are an Xbox 360 gamer that likes FPS and other games where you need to be able to hit many buttons at once, the Avenger might be interesting to you.

The Avenger is a sleeve that grips your own Xbox 360 controllers and puts all sorts of weird levers and stuff on the controller. It looks like the Borg assimilated the thing. According to the company that makes the thing it is designed to increase the manual dexterity and accuracy of the gamer when plying games like Call of Duty and others. The Avenger also claims to improve response time.
