EA: No new Battlefield for a couple of years
With Battlefield 1 smashing barriers and lauded as a triumphant FPS achievement, EA has no plans to make another Battlefield game for at least a couple of years. But the reason why isn't so obvious and straightforward: it's less about disturbing the actual series than it is about disturbing the game's engagement.
EA Chief Financial Officer Blake Jorgensen details a critical look at the company's strategic plans when it comes to future games and the Battlefield series. Jorgensen affirms that EA's business model is focused on long-term engagement, which encompasses monetized content like microtransactions, DLC packs, downloads, and overall interest-driven content. So EA has no plans to quickly interrupt Battlefield 1's long-term engagement plan with another annualized release in the franchise--plus it doesn't want to "cannibalize" Battlefront 2.
"We won't have a new Battlefield back for a couple years. Next year we'll have Battlefront 2. But we're looking at all of our games and asking how might we provide additional opportunities for the player to engage them. The players want to engage deeply in the games. Our model internally isn't a financial model, it's purely 'how do we drive engagement,'" EA CFO Blake Jorgensen said at the Nasdaq 35th Investor Program.

UK ad agency: No Man's Sky wasn't falsely advertised
If there was a controversial game of 2016 award, it would have to go to No Man's Sky, for its years of hype - it had the world taken by storm when it heroically fell from gaming grace, and was one of the biggest disappointment to thousands of gamers. It was only days ago that the new Foundation Update was released, adding and fixing parts of No Man's Sky, with Hello Games founder Sean Murray finally breaking his silence, after going dark when the game was released.
That hasn't stopped the UK's Advertising Standards Agency going over claims of No Man's Sky's listing on Steam was misleading, with upset gamers who provided screenshots, videos, and text about the game pre-release. In the evidence provided, the pre-release version of No Man's Sky had improved graphics, had better performance (instead of the myriad of problems PC gamers had) and planetary exploration.
These clips and explanations from the developer teased alien life, ship battles and warping - with gamers upset with the final state of No Man's Sky when it launched. The ASA disagreed in the end, saying that the materials provided were "largely representative of the final product and "unlikely to mislead" consumers", reports Engadget.

Why were AM2R and PKMN Uranium removed from Game Awards?
When fan made Nintendo games like AM2R (Another Metroid 2 Remake) and Pokemon Uranium got removed due to pressure from the Japanese game giant, we were all pretty pissed off. AM2R have been in development for a decade and Uranium was for 9 years.
Yet, how do you feel when all your hard work have been sit on it by a company? How would you feel when the slightest recognition of the blood you shed for something you love is squandered? Well, that's what happened with both game nominations taken off from the prestigious Game Award 2016 last week without notice.
The Game Awards' creator and host Geoff Keighly recently explained on a stream why these masterpieces' nomination were taken away. He said: "I think the big challenge that we face as a show is that everything in the show has to be legally cleared by the game companies in question. So one of the things that we go through is this clearance process where we have to get basically rights from everyone that owns the IPs of the games, but we don't tell those companies in advance who's nominated, and we find out together".

Hitman November patch adds offline profile to the game
Back when Hitman was first released in March 2016, players were furious that they couldn't use their unlockable items, earned during when they were connected to the game server, in their offline sessions. After what seems to be an eternity of complaining and begging for a feature that should be in the game from the players, IO Interactive finally released the feature with its November patch.
What the developers essentially did was to create a offline profile and all the unlockables you unlock during your game server time is also saved there. So, when you play in Offline mode, you gonna have access to all the items you spend you hard time obtaining them. Eurogamer reports: "Items include all mastery items; including weapons, gear, starting/pickup locations as well as Elusive Target suit rewards and Challenge Pack unlocks".
Yet, there a quirk to that. If you want to get new unlocks, you gotta connect to the game servers again. The update release note also release the November content schedule: 3 elusive target, number 13-15, 10 featured contracts and 1 escalation contracts. Good hunt!

Nintendo puts great effort into 3rd party Switch support
Nintendo has made one thing clear with its new Switch handheld console hybrid: it wants to embrace third-party games and completely turn around the Wii U's secular games library. To do so, the Japanese console-maker is making huge concessions and efforts to attract major third-party developers and publishers like Take-Two Interactive, Ubisoft, and Bethesda to name a few--and all of these companies are quite impressed with the Switch. It appears Nintendo's plan is working.
GTA V and Red Dead Redemption publisher Take-Two Interactive is the latest to praise Nintendo's strategy with the Switch, affirming that the company is making a "great effort" to ensure third-party support is properly ported, curated and maintained.
"The folks at Nintendo are making a great effort to support third-party developers, we're very optimistic on the Switch though we are not announcing anything specific today," Take-Two Interactive President Karl Slatoff said at the Credit Suisse 20th Annual Technology, Media & Telecom Conference IR conference.

The Old Republic 5.0 update includes mountain of content
The 5.0 update for Star Wars: The Old Republic is live. One of the biggest updates for any game I've ever seen, it packs in a mountain of new content and overhauls seemingly every aspect of the game.
There's too much to list here, but the juiciest bits include the Knights of the Eternal Throne storyline spanning nine new chapters and two new planets, a level 70 cap for all classes, a Dark vs. Light alignment system, gear progression just for playing, repeatable, four-player group content known as "Uprisings", an advanced class option at character creation, and ranked Warzone Arena season 8.
Eternal Throne is exclusive to Early Access eligible players until December 2.

I've been playing Overwatch for what feels like forever (well, 60 hours or something like that) and I'm still not even at level 100 - while 'TaZzERK' has hit the unofficial level cap of Overwatch - at level 1800.

More impressively, the Overwatch player hit level 1800 without account sharing - something that a few gamers do in order to rank up in Overwatch quicker. TaZzeRK says that around 1700 hours were required to hit level 1800, which accounts to an average of 16-17 hours per day.

Nintendo shares vision for 'Nintendo World' theme park
Nintendo and Universal are teaming up to make "a whole world of Nintendo" theme park attractions that make attendees feel as if they've "walked into their game platform."
Both Nintendo and Universal have been quite tight-lipped on the plans for these whimsical attractions, but that changed today as Shigeru Miyamoto and Universal's Mark Woodbury outlined some visions and promises for the upcoming theme park areas.
"We're going to be able to create an entire Nintendo world, and as we continue to develop it, that world became more immersive and more evolved and more colorful and more exciting...and more interactive," said Univesal Studios creative Mark Woodbury.
