Thermaltake go Massive with new notebook cooler

Steve Dougherty | Sep 5, 2011 8:34 AM CDT

Often we'll see the release of yet another notebook cooler into the market that does little to stand out and impress us with anything we haven't already seen before. However, Thermaltake have stepped forward in radical fashion and announced today something that does indeed have its eye catching attributes straight off the bat.

Appropriately dubbed the "Massive 23 GT" notebook cooler, it sports a beefy 200mm fan which can operate between 5 and 800RPM, giving up to 24 dBA of sound output. The overall unit measures 352 x 293.1 x 41.4 mm, weighing in at 907 grams and supports notebooks sized anywhere between 10 and 17 inches.

Thermaltake has constructed the eye catching red and black themed Massive 23 GT notebook Cooler out of a mixture of metal and plastic, giving it anti-slip rubber feet, a flip-up valve design with five angled settings and a built in two-port USB 3.0 hub for extra devices.

Cooler Master intros Hyper 612 S/PWM and GeminiII S524 CPU Coolers

Steve Dougherty | Jul 26, 2011 7:34 AM CDT

Cooler Master has added three new CPU coolers to its lineup today, with two high performance models being only mildly different to each other in the Hyper 612 PWM and Hyper 612S, along with the release of the GeminiII S524.

The Hyper 612S/PWM models are based around the traditional tower design, measuring 140 x 128 x 163 mm with a weight topping about 910g. They sport a copper base with six uniquely oriented heatpipes that are said to help the heatsink give maximized heat dissipation at lower fan speeds. The all-copper pipes pass through the base then along the length of the airflow optimized fin stack.

The Hyper 612S's spinner runs at 1300RPM (or just 900RPM when using the included silent mode adapter), while the Hyper 612 PWM's fan runs at between 600RPM and 2000RPM, depending on the current temperature.

Cooler Master's much anticipated COSMOS II pictured

Steve Dougherty | Jul 14, 2011 8:54 AM CDT

In case you weren't already aware, Cooler Master are paving way for the return of COSMOS, their widely loved, iconic enthusiast tower chassis of years past. All the attributes we loved about the COSMOS are said to be remaining, with a ton of exciting new features added into the mix.

Now we can get an even better idea of what to expect from the COSMOS II, thanks to the folks over at TPU posting up a number of images of what looks to be a very close to final form version of the chassis.

The case remains true to the original with its suspended box shape design, albeit a little more curvey this time around, and is roughly the same overall size, but adds all the good stuff expected from a high end tower of today including USB 3.0 ports, touch sensitive buttons, accommodation for 2.5-inch SSDs and a smarter cooling sub-system arrangement.

Prolimatech's Megahalems is back in black

Steve Dougherty | Jun 27, 2011 6:21 AM CDT

Prolimatach have proven several times over that they know what their doing when it comes to designing a solid air cooling solution for your hot headed CPU, with the Megahalems being worthy of sitting atop their pedestal.

With that said, the design principals behind the Megahalems have aged a little now versus what else is on the market; but rather than let this iconic name die off, they've given Megahalems a new lease of life by re-working the base design, making a few tweaks here and there and kicking it out as a new Megahalems "Black Series" edition, which as the name suggests, means you get a sexy new breed of this high end cooler in black coated attire.

While measuring in the same as the original at 130 x 158.7 x 74 mm (LxWxH) and with the same six nickel-plated copper heat pipes passing through the base, the new model sports a grainy black coating which increases surface area (vs the polished glossy type) and wider compatibility for all current as well as pre-gen AMD/Intel platforms. You also have the option of strapping one or two 120mm or 140mm fans of your choosing on the beast that is the new Megahalems Black Series.
